Sample Key Takeaways from Chapter 1

Number One

Surveillance capitalism claims human experience as free raw material that can be translated into behavioral data for a commercial purpose.

Number Two

Surveillance capitalism is the business model that Google, Facebook, Amazon, and Apple use. It is a way to make money by using our data, or selling it to advertisers and other companies. Google invented and perfected surveillance capitalism.

Number Three

The internet was created to help people share information and communicate. But now companies are using the internet to spy on people, find out what they want, and then use that information to sell them things. This makes the internet a giant surveillance machine.

Capitalism always remains the same but it can be bastardize

Was interesting so far as an explanation of Google's algorithm as well as others using such algorithms in order to figure out what humans want, so companies can better market to them. This is no different than it ever has been, especially since the days of the Mad Men back in the 40s and 1950s. All Google and other such companies on the Internet have done is to automate the information gathering that was arduously collected and pushed through various bean-counters to come up with the same type of information. I found the author writing this book in an ominous way that somehow predicts the algorithms and the information being collected is going to be the end of the all, and the world as we know it. The author's final analysis is something I just can't believe.
