Resumen del Editor

The Charlemagne talisman, with its gold filigree volutes and enormous azure-blue sapphire, has caught Vicky Bliss' attention. When a man is found murdered with an enchanting copy of the antiquity in his pocket, along with an odd set of hieroglyphs, Vicky follows the trail of the gifted genius who created the fake to the narrow streets of the anitquity markets in Rome.

With her unusual qualifications, a doctorate in art history and the body of a movie goddess, Vicky is well equipped for getting the information she needs from anyone, particularly the older men who typically deal in antiques. But in #37 on the Street of the Five Moons, Vicky meets a dangerously exciting young Englishman, a man whose scruples are as questionable as his intelligence is keen.

Read by Barbara Rosenblat with the acclaimed talent that has made her Elizabeth Peters' only choice to read the Vicky Bliss series, Street of the Five Moons will delight the listener with a full measure of witty repartee and memorable characters.

Don't miss any of the mysteries in the Vicky Bliss series.

Fun!

A very fun and entertaining caper. Even if it were only half as good it would still be well worth while just to hear Barbara Rosenblat’s performance. Great narration!!

Now this is where the series startes to take off

Here we have the introduction of John?s character, and the beginning of the best part of the series. It is such a great listen to, and one cannot help buy want to travel to Germany afterwards. More Nancy Drew style mysteries that are repeat listens!

A Seriously Strong Woman

I am reworking my way through Elizabeth Peter's books, only this time I am listening! They are still intriguingly wonderful! Her women are strong, intelligent and witty. The other characters are a conglomeration of good and bad guys, dangerous and sneaky ones. Funny in haha and funny in odd things happen. Museum like paintings and Jewelery play a big role here in this story. There is also the first meeting with "John Smythe".

Truly delightful story and performance

I adore the witty, tongue in cheek, precocious heroines in Elizabeth Peter's stories. Humor abounds, mystery rules and adventure awaits! The narrator embodies Vicky Bliss to an extent you'll have a hard time believing the character only exists on paper.

The real beginning of the Vicky Bliss series (for me)

I am in love with the Amelia Peabody series but Vicky Bliss is also near and dear to my heart. The VB series really gets started with this book when Sir John is introduced. Borrower of the Night (the first book in the series) lacks much of Elizabeth Peters’ trademark wit and charm, but she hits her stride with this one and the rest of the series. The Night Train to Memphis is a total Desert Island Keeper. Barbara Rosenblat is a great narrator (even though her voice for Vicky doesn’t sound precisely like I thought she would sound…she is amazing with the American accent).

Old favorite, better in print

This novel is an old favorite of mine, and I've listened to two different audio versions of it (including this one).... neither of which is nearly as good as just reading it yourself.

Educational, witty , captivating

I did not enjoy this narrator as well as the one in book one. She takes too many big breaths. Also her voice is older than the character

Always excellent

This is one of the best Elizabeth Peter’s series in my opinion. The anti hero is ludicrous and yet appealing and the heroine is not a vapid fool so that a positive as well. Just entertaining all around. Her farcical side characters are so funny you’ll find yourself chuckling at their antics.

Doesn't have the luster of others

I am a huge fan of Peter's Amelia Peabody series and love Rosenblat as both Peabody and Bliss (yes, she sounds a bit too old for Vicky, but I think she captures her attitude beautifully), but the Bliss series just doesn't seem to have the richness of the Peabody series and seems just too predictable.
