A nice over view

I have been working with spatial audio for some time now. I think my first real introduction to it was the Binaural production of "Stephen King's THE MIST in 3D audio" that was great but produced on tape in the 1990s so not nearly as well produced as today.
I myself try to create at least somewhat spatial audio experiences in my audio dramas but I am currently just working with simple programs like audacity. So I can get varying distances of left and right and approach and move away via volume, fade out and echo, where in Atmos you can pretty much place a "speaker" in a sphere and have it seem to come from that direction/ distance.
I love audio drama and "heightened audio experiences" such as Stephen Fry's Ghost Stories collection.
This gives a nice intro to the world of Spatial audio and some of its possibilities.
I hope to one day work with audible and create truly 3D sensory experiences. Imagine what could be done with this tech, by a Dean Koontz or Stephen King when writing especially for audio...
I am really hoping the new Harry Potters are done this way in audio... in Atmos!!
