Acerca de esta escucha
Foreword by Chris Jericho:
Start with a Dream: A Drummer's Journey from Rock & Roll to TV to Broadway is a story about making your dreams come true no matter what obstacles stand in your way. Follow Joey from his early childhood when he was first introduced to his musical idols KISS, to being the drummer of an actual KISS tribute band, and then ultimately touring the US with KISS with his own rock band ZO2. After releasing several albums, Joey and ZO2 went on to star in their own TV show, Z Rock, on IFC. Guest starring such legends as Joan Rivers, Daryl Hall, John Popper, Chris Jericho, Dave Navarro and Dee Snider, Z Rock became the highest rated debut show in IFC history. After Z Rock, Joey went on to perform with the critically acclaimed Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Natasha Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, starring singing sensation Josh Groban.
Filled with unique and colorful tales of life in the entertainment business, this book is for anyone who has ever had a dream - or even more so for those who have yet to discover their own. So go out and find what you love and go after it.... Start with a Dream

Historia
There is a common misconception about KISS, one of the greatest hard rock/heavy metal bands of all time: that their "non-makeup" era of 1983-1996 is not as enduring as when they rocked stages as the Starchild, the Demon, the Spaceman, and the Cat. In fact, this period helped resuscitate KISS' career. While the majority of KISS books are focused on the iconic makeup era, the non-makeup years are ripe to be explored in book form, and Take It Off does just that, zeroing in on the albums KISS issued during this period, as well the resulting tours, videos, and other escapades.

Nitro is a story about much more than WCW and the Monday Night Wars. It is a story of an era, a time in which the media and cultural landscape precipitated - and later supported - pro wrestling's mainstream popularity. It is a story of how a company made in the image of an intuitively brilliant risk-taker betrayed its original promise. It is a story of how a handful of men, each struggling with their own limitations, facilitated a public obsession that changed television forever.

This is the powerful, untold story of two of the three members of Silverchair, Australia's most awarded musical act. From their beginnings in Ben Gillies' garage, this trio of high school kids from Newcastle, New South Wales, became famous with their smash-hit single 'Tomorrow', setting them on a path to domination of the Australian charts, worldwide touring and fame. So much has been written about Silverchair over the years but very little has been said by the band's members.

No one other than Warren Zanes, rocker and writer and friend, could author a book about Tom Petty that is as honest and evocative of Petty's music and the remarkable rock and roll history he and his band helped to write. Born in Gainesville, Florida, with more than a little hillbilly in his blood, Tom Petty was a Southern shit kicker, a kid without a whole lot of promise. Rock and roll made it otherwise.

Meet Phil Collen. You may know him as the lead guitarist in Def Leppard, whose signature song "Pour Some Sugar on Me" is still as widely enjoyed as when it debuted in 1988. Maybe you've heard of him as the rock star who gave up alcohol and meat more than 25 years ago. Most likely you've seen him shirtless - in photos or in real life - flaunting his impeccably toned body to appreciative female fans.

an amazing story of music and life
Ive been a fan of Joe for several years, well since I first heard about Z Rock, I quickly became a fan of ZO2 soon afterwards, I saw the band live and even met Joe, he runs a music school behind my apartment! he even signed my book!!! The book made me laugh and also made me cry, but if you are a fan of either the music or the show read or listen, it's required reading and sends a great message! hopefully a part 2 is in the works!!!

KISS/pro wrestling/music business
If you're a diehard fan of KISS or pro wrestling, this is a no-brainer to get. If you're at all interested in the music business, then it's also a must have. Joey keeps you engaged from chapter to chapter. Just when you think, "Oh, this part's going to be boring," there's always something that sucks you in and makes you want more. Each musical element of Joey's musical career is represented, and so are the songs! I was starting to mentally take a note to try and listen to a song later, and boom...he plays the song in the audio book! While the 15 hours and 32 minutes runtime may seem daunting, just know there is a fair amount of music in there too. I was actually wanting MORE details about what his everyday jobs were like, but he only briefly mentions working at a hospital and teaching drum lessons. As a musician myself, I would have loved to have heard some of the everyday trials and tribulations from his day jobs that happened between the moments in the music business. As with anyone's life, there are times where the story will make you cry, and Joey gives these times the proper emotion that only the author could. I highly recommend checking this out!

An absolute must have !!!
First, I own the book and it is amazing! The Audible is amazing in a different way. Any ZO2, Z Rock, Kiss fan, or anybody with a dream needs this! Joey is real, his stories are amazing. The Audible has extra chapters and unreleased songs. As a fan and friend, I couldn't live without this! I laughed a lot, I sure did cry a lot (fans know why). For me, the Audible was way more personal and very emotional for me. Joey is an inspiration to all. I cannot say enough great things about this, if you have a dream, never give up, and listen to this book!!! Thank you Joey for sharing your story with all of us!!! I highly recommend this to everybody! Rock on Joey, I hope to see a solo album from you!!!

More than just an awesome listen......
Start with a Dream; A Drummer's Journey from Rock & Roll to TV to Broadway is a book of memories and wonders, a personal testament of a magical time in the New York rock music scene from someone who was there, at the center of it all, playing bars and children’s parties all the while never losing sight of his dreams and aspirations. There’s history here, and anecdote, regret and reminiscence, a long fond look back at friends & the trials and triumphs of finding your voice then holding your ground. His role as a father to his children and his reflection on the devastating loss of his mother shows his commitment and growth. The tone is easy, conversational, like reminiscing with a friend about things you never realized you were part of too. Joey brings you along with him, keeps you right by his side first to last through the good times and bad. The stories about his music, and acting career, alone make this book a must read. But it is his personal journey that makes his story impactful. I loved that Joey Cassata is open about his struggles, failures and accomplishments. Start with a Dream is a memoir that is both insightful, practical and a fun listen.

Love This Book
I picked up this book after seeing Joey post it on FaceBook. I first heard of Joey when I saw ZO2 open for KISS in Camden, NJ. I saw them again when they appeared at a KISS Konvention I. Baltimore, MD. I loved their energy and their music. It was great to hear how what I saw was exactly what they were putting into the show. I own my own business in the Philadelphia suburbs and know the ups and downs of following a dream. I want to thank Joey for writing this book, it is amazing to hear when all the hard work pays off. Joey, when you read this and knowing the type of person you are you will, if you are ever in the Suburbs of Philadelphia I would love to take you through a workout in my personal training studio. Vertex Fitness.
