From history to today

This book turns away from the history you learned in the first two books and looks at life today for one of the characters. It's a great book and shows how growth can shift the outcomes and desires. It also displays a great sense of unconditional love and support that every family should have.

Leaving the Nest and Going West

Frankie Cooper at age eighteen has life all figured out, or so she thinks. 😏 Headstrong, redheaded and goal oriented, she's sure she has the world by the tail. She has her life mapped out and she's ready to leave her family and North Carolina behind. Traveling to Arizona where her boyfriend, Maxwell is going to law school, and her friend, Shayna lives on an Indiana reservation, Frankie is going to write a big news story about a cold case of a Indian girl murdered nearly two decades earlier. Breaking ties with her family isn't all she expected it to be, and just leaving them a note has created such a deep sadness for them and for her that she's left in a quandary. It has even put distance between her and Maxwell. Growing up is HARD, its even harder when you're stubborn. 😅 Frankie's dad calls Shayna's mom and makes sure that Frankie has a place to stay . . . NOT with Maxwell . . . 😉 adding salt to Frankie's already wounded feelings. And to top it all off, Shayna isn't back yet from visiting her cousin. So Frankie had to make do with getting to know Shayna's brother, Tao . . . who has a chip on his shoulder. Things continue to go the direct opposite of what Frankie had so carefully planned . . . as life often does. And we either learn to either bend . . . or we break. Wonderful book, exceptional ending. Southern fiction at its best.

Very original

This book was really nice in the fact it dealt with a topic others haven't delved into. The plight of those living on reservations and trying to keep their culture alive and also their bodies. There is murder mystery, eye opening thoughts of how some Native American's still struggling with the past of their people. The narrator was o.k. She had weird voices for the guys, all nasal not masculine at all. But her words are clear and concise. I really don't like hearing the spit in her mouth though. It's faint, bit it's like a nagging background noise I noticed the whole time. Despite that this book is well worth the read and listen.

This is the first I read of this Author ,I really enjoyed the story,Frankie is 18 and wanting to find her way in life ,leaving home to find the truth of what happened to the girl who was murdered 17years before,(touch's on Native American Culture) for her journalistic career and to be with her boyfriend.While Frankie is looking for the truth she finds herself growing up in more ways than one .
