Resumen del Editor

The Night World series takes place in a world similar to our own, but one where vampires, witches, werewolves, and shape-shifters live among humans without their knowledge. These supernatural races make up a secret society known as the Night World, which enforces two fundamental laws to prevent discovery: (1) Never allow humans to gain knowledge of the Night World's existence, and (2) Never fall in love with one of them.

In Spellbinder, the plot centers on Thea and Blaise Harman, cousins who belong to the race of witches. Although they are as close as sisters, in temperament the girls are as different as day from night; Thea belongs to Circle Twilight, for the not-so-wicked-witches and Blaise belongs to Circle Midnight, for the darker ones. When the two cousins start fighting over Eric Ross, there ensues an epic battle between black and white magic.

Always enjoyed this book of the series

Fun story, good characters. I have always loved the Night World Series and how the stories build on each other. The narrator is much better than the narrators of the first two books though I don’t understand how the director didn’t catch that the poor girl didn’t know how to pronounce macabre (multiple times), or Hecate (multiple times). At least this narrator knows how to use inflection and gave a decent performance otherwise!

Introducing the Witches of the Night World

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would only recommend this book if you have read the first two. I know they are completely different characters and a completely different setting but you do have to know a thing or two about the Night World in order to understand some of the plight that these two sister cousins go through.

If you’ve listened to books by L. J. Smith before, how does this one compare?

Wow, true to form Smith introduces you into a whole new realm of the Night World whereas the main focus was vampires in this book you are getting an introduction to the world of the dark witches of Circle Midnight and the Light-good witches of Circle Twilight. You are also introduced to a third and upcoming Circle Daybreak but this is only touched upon briefly.

What does Jeannie Stith bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

There are three main characters in this book Thea, the "good witch" of Circle Twilight, Blair the "bad witch" of Circle Midnight and David the human boy. All three are very different and Jeannie Stith really did a good job in keeping them different and making sure each character kept their own personality during the book.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Only if the first two books would be involved as well.

Any additional comments?

I learned that the last book "Strange Fate" has been "lost" LJ smith has written it but for some reason or another it has not been published. To my understanding this has been the case for close to 10 years. I am sad to say that at this point, you will be enjoying the Night World stories and characters without the closure a reader, a customer or a fan would expect.

please finish the series LJ

only reason I give these books a 4 star is because it's been since the 90s and she's never finished the books or released witch light.
