Acerca de esta escucha

'I absolutely loved this book!' Maxine Morrey

When Charley finds herself suddenly single on Christmas Day it feels like her world has fallen apart.

Forced to move back in with her parents, she embarks on a journey of re-invention. When she meets Ed, who is on honeymoon alone after being jilted at the altar by a bride he's never met, it looks like her life may be taking a turn for the better.

Fate, however, has other ideas, and she and Ed are forced apart.

Will she find her way back to him, or are they just not meant to be?

This charming and punny romance is perfect for fans of Jo Watson and Mhairi McFarlane!

I liked it. Great narrator. Nice story. Sweet and funny. Not too complicated or convoluted.

Easy listening

It starts strong in the first chapter and then veers off course quite quickly. You could easily skip everything from her leaving the first apartment to setting foot in Antigua. And it's narrated like a Book Report because the writing is so action heavy "I look at this. I do that. I watch this," the narrator doesn't add any joy or personality, or seem to understand the difference between reading and performance. There is very little insight into what is motivating these characters, especially Ed. I can't picture him, I don't know what he's like, I couldn't cast him in a movie he could be anyone. And it's so JOSH BAD, ED PERFECT. there's no dynamics. The banter is ....it's not witty I don't know if I would even call it banter There's no humor to it it's all very polite and surface level. There's no real conflict. You don't even meet Ed until the book is halfway through.

The falling in love part, which is really the fun part and the crux of what the modern romance is, is given equal time to the being separated part. and all of it together is only half the already quite short book. Should have been a short story. 2.5/10

A few nice ideas, butchered
