Acerca de esta escucha

"Yes, I'm single...feel free to comment."

Single women can sometimes be magnets for awkward question, especially within the church community. What do you do with your life if you're not married? With an emphasis on strong marriages and biblical childrearing, unmarried women in the church can begin to think that they are somehow on the sidelines. But, this is not the case.

In this helpful volume, Nancy Wilson provides straightforward counsel and encouragement for those struggling with "the wait". She addresses practical concerns like building a career but focuses more specifically on important relational issues such as interacting with competitive women, respecting your parents even after you've left their home, establishing standards for male friends, and keeping the right outlook on your life. Whether a woman is called to singleness for a short time or for her whole life, she is called to be fruitful in God's kingdom.

This is the second and revised edition of Why Isn't a Pretty Girl Like You Married?

the life of the single woman. I appreciated a lot of what she had to say, and look forward to mulling it over more in the future as I look to apply it in a Biblical way.

Thought provoking outlook on

I had to stop reading this when the author went into looks. She claimed women who don't wear makeup or fitted clothing are simple and naive. In another chapter, she claimed in order to be more desirable, women should where makeup, get cosmetic procedures, lose weight and wear more modest clothes but ensuring they accentuate the female body. Now, while I do feel humans are physical creatures, telling women to change their appearance to attract a husband is not biblical. There is a natural beauty that glows in women who are Christ-Centered and while they may not look like an Esther or Sarah, women shouldn't focus on outer looks. You can read what God says about inner beauty in 1 Peter 3:3-4 and Proverbs 31:30.

While meant to be a biblical view, this seems to be more of a worldly view and works based rather than faith based.

The Bible states that singleness is a gift. Women saying they are content single may actually mean they are content single.
