Acerca de esta escucha

The world of New York City school politics takes a deadly turn when Hector Sanchez, the popular principal of an up-and-coming public school, is murdered. Detective Claire Codella catches the high-profile case while she's still struggling to get back up to speed. This is her first case since taking leave to battle cancer.

Still recovering and still fighting to fit back in at the precinct, Codella must contend with a new partner and an old disease to find out who killed Hector Sanchez. As she investigates, she turns up question after question - and finding the answers may cost Codella her life.

''Well-crafted...an insightful glimpse into the emotions and consequences of being a cancer survivor.'' ( Publishers Weekly)

I liked the concept of the book, I actually liked the protagonist, the fact that she was sketched but not too much, I liked the fact that most of the characters lied, which made solving the case more difficult.

From reading these types of books I realised that people do lie for selfish reasons and that the solving of a murder is most of the time less important to them than saving face, all people have flaws after all.
I also really liked Munioz (I hope I spelled that correctly), despite all he did act as the better man.
I'm looking forward to listening to the next book.

The narrator did a great job and it made listening to this book enjoyable.

Good story, great narrator

Catalog plus. I’m a newly minted fan of narrator. Nicole Zanszalla. See her Lee Goldberg series, Eve Ronin . It would not surprise me if Mr Goldberg made her his narrator after hearing her cop persona performed. My personal opinion.
This author has 3 books in this series but only this one on audible. The first chapters are dedicated to developing the characters and it had such dark dialogue I almost quit. The descriptions are just so negative. The dedication should have clue me and there is no background on this author so I don’t know where she’s getting her material from. I stuck with the story because of one of the secondary characters and I wanted to see how his story turned out. A 6 foot six cop who follows the rainbow lifestyle!
Where my comments of help?
