Resumen del Editor

The complete set of three short stories that set up the Sick Robot universe in which robots infected with human cancer cells become mortal, fall in love, and decide they're more than a little tired of being second-class citizens into the city they helped build.

Blending cyber and steampunk to create a retro-fusion landscape where pets are 4-D printed and people travel in tubes of compressed air, these stories will transport you into a world of surreal beauty pepped with philosophical questions about what makes us human.

Unique robot steampunk sci-fi series

The Sick Robot three book series by D.C. Lozar was entertaining and definitely unique. You see, there's a disease. A disease that makes robots deteriorate into humans. A disease that kills robots. From the initial carrier for whom the disease was named after, to the robots that realize how they had been being treated in human society and decide to do something about it, it was an entertaining ride. I chuckled at how the one human raised his trees and made his furniture so fabulous and better than anyone else. That being said, the story did lose my attention here and there after the first book. I did like how the stories were all integrated and you got to see the changes in a few of these robots throughout the three books.

Amexander Doddy did a good job with the narration. No complaints here! He does have a British accent, so if you aren't a fan of British narrations, I'd recommend probably passing on this one or at least checking out the audiobook sample before purchasing. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher for an honest review.

A fantastic trilogy of short stories!

What did you love best about Sick Robot: 3-Book Series?

The concept was definitely unique, making the story very interesting because it introduced an entirely new concept to me.

What did you like best about this story?

The morbid bits of comedy fit in really well with the overall story.

What does Alexander Doddy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I really enjoyed Alexander Doddy's narration, it was expressive and unique to each character helping to bring them to life.

Any additional comments?

D.C. Lozar managed to create a very interesting world and the story told kept me engaged. At the end you feel like you've been dropped off at the doorstep of something much bigger. I've always been a fan of science fiction and unique stories like this one are the reason I enjoy the genre so much.

A sick series!

"I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."

So this was a amazing, amazing surprise in so many ways. Ok, maybe its not the most fantastic story in the world, but it kept me interesting. D. C. Lozar is giving us humor, sci fi and interesting storylines, but i must say its lts not the best in the world. Still a 4 out of 5 is a tremendous score. Alexander Doddy on the other side is P E R F E C T! Alexander Doddy is maybe some of the best readers of a book i heard. And i heard a LOT of books! Fan Tas Tic! I recommend this big way, and gave it full score becouse it deserve it. Get it now!

Very good collection to set up a world

Sick Robot was a fun collection of stories that all connect to build a world that is both terrifying and exciting at the same time. The revolution will be televised and Humans may not be on the winning side. Interesting take on how the robots achieve a form of life and the idea that they are tired of being slapped around and treated as slaves is metaphorically great. This is rich ground here for potential sequels and / or a series. I would love to see the further adventures of John and Capri. Great listen.

The narration was excellent. The accents were done very well and the characters (robots becoming human) slowly came to life, literally.

Excellent foundation to an interesting world!

This 3-book series is a great introduction to an extremely interesting world! I really enjoyed how each (~1 hour) part led to the next and see the evolution from one point of view to the next. I feel like this could stand alone as a series of short stories (if you want to read/listen to this and move on) but I am excited to see if this will turn into a larger series of stories in this world.

This is my first exposure to author D.C. Lozar and narrator Alexander Doddy and I have no complaints! Great story telling and superb narration! I highly recommend this trilogy if you're looking for something on the shorter side. My only warning is that it will leave you wanting to hear more! I will definitely be looking at more works by both author and narrator.

Revolutionary Robots

An interesting story in three parts that follows a society where most of the menial jobs have been taken over by extremely lifelike robots. When one becomes sick with a virus that swaps out robot parts for human genes, the course of civilization is changed forever.
A well written prequel to a series I haven't read yet. Both the robots and the humans are well written and compelling and the plot is well constructed so that you don't suspect the outcome until midway through the last book.
I loved the reader's British accent.

Liked witnessing the robot's evolution

A robot becomes infected with cancer cells from a technician, and little by little these cells start replacing his. Being something between a robot and a human, he is used by others to infect other robots and rebel against humanity.

This was such an interesting book. Although the theme was revisited again and again in cinema and writing, it was pictured here in a different way.

I really liked the characters and witnessing the robot's evolution and his internal conflict. It felt real, and I could easily connect to him.

This book is in fact a series, composed by three short stories. The three blended almost seamelessly together, and it kept my attention from beginning to end.

Alexander Doddy’s narration was exquisite, with great character interpretations and an ample voice range. It definitely added value to the book.

Can be so much more.

The story is there and it's a very good one.
This is a combination of 3 short stories, even so it's still short. At least 5 years pass between each story, 5 years which could be filled with incredible tells, it's all there ready to be told.
Saying all this I do must also say that it's a great story, I'm happy to have had the privilege to listen to those 3 connected together, creating a short masterpiece, I do hope that the author will continue the story filling up the gaps and continue to the future, I know that I would be the first inline for such a book!
The performance was perfect, sound and voices where just right.
I can only recommend this book, it's a first for me that an author finds a perfect solution between robots and humans, all other books when this subject comes up we get Armageddon.
Yes I don't have any problems recommending this book to my fellow readers.

A Brilliant New Idea

This was a great book. The concept was so original and well executed. I was enthralled and wondering where the story would take me all the way to the end where I was surprised at the ending. I did have some difficulty trying to discern the ending of each of the three stories but that was mostly because they flowed pretty seamlessly.
Alexander Doddy was a perfect fit for the narrator. He allowed me to immerse in the story completely.

Great concept and narration.

What did you like best about this story?

This book passes my "would I recommend" test because of its unique concept. These days when you read any robot / AI story, you hardly get anything new. Most stories are a slight variation of something you've already read / listened to. Not this book. This one brings a totally unique concept to the robot awakening and keeps you spellbound.

There are three short stories, lasting a total of ~3 hours. Each story takes place at an interval of few years from each other. Even though I feel there's scope of a lot more story to be told, whatever we do get in these shorts are still great.

Have you listened to any of Alexander Doddy’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is one of the better performances I've listened to this year. The unique voice that each of the characters got draws the listener in and it feels like watching a movie with your eyes closed.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I did listen to it in one sitting. It being just 3 hour long helped there. I do wish it was longer though. The book has a unique concept and there is good scope of more story coming out of it. I hope the author writes more on this.
