Lives and twists of fate

I loved this installment of the Whitfield and Sheridan‘s time traveling historical romance. Like the other books in the series, this story is told from multiple points of view. It does not focus on one couple but once again focuses on four couples - Valerie and Alec, Louisa and Kit, Finn and Abbie, and Sam and Susanna. There is a lot going on with these couples between the 17th and 18th centuries. This time, unexpected moments for these couples alter their paths in ways they never imagined. Interwoven with the couples story arcs there is once again social and religious commentary which adds interesting layers to the storyline. The story was well written and included three dimensional characters and an engaging storyline as shown through mystery, sweet moments, spice, laughs, messy families, painful pasts, surprises, danger, plot twists, fate, and love. I am looking forward to reading more in the series. 4.5 stars.

Fiona Small did a wonderful job narrating the story and characters into life with enough change of inflection, tone and cadence to voice multiple characters quite convincingly.

Irina Shapiro has done it again!

This series is fantastic and the narrator is great! I love all of Irina's series and never want any of them to end

Compelling and spellbinding

This book in the series keeps you on the edge of your seat anxiously waiting for what comes next!! Irina Shapiro cleverly keeps all the story lines moving at a satisfying pace while she weaves each one and then ties it all together... now for the next book to find out what happens...

Great story and imagination.

Very interesting story. keeps ypu guessing and wondering what could happen or maybe it ends.

The series is getting more interesting with this one

Story lines are finally getting developed and the characters are getting more interesting. BUT the sisters seem to have forgotten they are from another time. The courtroom scene could have been so much "more" knowing the sisters would have watched crime dramas. The assailant could have been made left handed, because the victim's wounds could have mostly on the right. Kit didn't have any injuries to his hands.
While, the story is growing, there are several missed opportunities for a better storyline.

I’m forcing myself to begin the next installment

The amount of sexual content is getting to be ridiculous. The narrator’s childish voice and horrible accents are painful. I’m 5 books into this and I guess I’ll see it through. The storyline has so much potential but…
