sweetness and strife

This story has a complex plot that is not not easily anticipated, The characters are well developed, but can surprise the reader.

Heartfelt Story

The "we're just friends" trope played out too long, though the very real fights they finally have is refreshingly raw. And so is the very well written shifts in H/h as each grows & affects the other. Very insightful! Still hero takes too long to come to scratch; and heroine stays too long in the "I'm a worm" spinster talk. Love the subplot with her sister. I teared up on that. This author is very skillfully. This is a solid 4.5 stars with the caveate that some of the second-half inner dialogue & foot-dragging of the couple could have been tightenedup a bit - maybe an hour less?

Splendid Secrets!

This book is my favorite of the series so far! I love friendship turned to love stories. Rebecca Connolly has written a perfect one between Geoffrey and Mary. I loved how they infuriated each other and loved each other at the same time. I loved their witty dialogue too.

Friends to Loverx

This was a charming "friends to lovers" romance. It was fun to see the transformation of Mary as, by her own choice, she stepped out of the role of wallflower and into a bit of the limelight of the ballrooms. Geoffrey, her lifelong friend, is a true blue escort and encourager of Mary...until he begins to wonder who she is becoming and what THEIR future will be.

Love this series!

This is one of, if not, my favorite series ever, and this is one of my favorite books in the series. I love the author. I love the narrator. I love the characters. Each story is so heartwarming, and I love how the characters all interact in each other’s stories.
