Ancient curses, lost treasure and murder…the way only Lady Caroline and Uncle Albert can do it!
Egypt, 1925
Leave it to Lady Caroline and Uncle Albert to inadvertently stumble upon an ancient load of trouble while on a jolly jaunt up the Nile. From ancient curses and wandering mummies, to seances and secret societies, it’s all murder, mayhem, and a plague of beetles.
Secret of the Scarab is Book 5 of the Lady Caroline Murder Mysteries series. In the glamorous world of 1920s Europe, and now Egypt, money and privilege rub shoulders, and greed, envy, and murder are never far behind. Follow Lady Caroline, intelligent and witty, with a fondness for breaking rules, on a fun romp through the golden age of murder mysteries. Each book contains the requisite eccentric characters, fun historical tidbits, and puzzling murders with no gore or gloom.

Historia
London, 1922. Between gallivanting in his Rolls-Royce and darkening the doorways of London's hotspots, Lord Reginald "Rex" Bankes-Fernsby has almost succeeded in banishing the battlefield nightmares that plague his sleep. Pity he can't say the same about that nagging lack of direction in his life. If only he were like his best friend Freddie—self-assured, suave, and up to his ears in secrets. But when Freddie is murdered, Rex doubts the verdict. Was Freddie really cut down while up to no good, or was he killed in the line of duty?

Is the end missing?
Did the end of this book get cut off? It seems to me that left us hanging with two women as the possible murderer. Is this a technical difficulty or did the author really write it to leave us hanging? It’s a bit unsatisfying

What happened?
I really enjoyed the book right up to the end where it ended right before the murderer was announced! Since the next book in the series is not on audible and I don’t like to spend the money on both written and audio that was pretty disappointing. By the time I finish the series I’m reading and give up and purchase this one I’ll be lost in the storyline.

I enjoy the Lady Caroline books but this ending was dirty pool. I guess this will be too much information for some but I want names. Not just a suggestion. Is that a trick to make sure I read the next book? I will anyway but I came away feeling very dissatisfied.

So disappointing, you get up to the point where the killer is about to be revealed at the end of Chapter 29 and the Audible recording ends. I looked on Kindle and there are 3 more chapters. First time I’ve ever had this issue with Audible. Hopefully they fix it!
