London, 1786. Lord Henri-Antoine has returned from the Grand Tour to a life of privilege and excess. A vast inheritance allows him every indulgence, free from responsibility. Yet, Henri-Antoine maintains a well-ordered existence, going to great lengths to conceal an affliction few understand and many fear.
Miss Lisa Crisp is a penniless orphan who relies on the charity of relatives to keep her from the poorhouse. Intelligent and unflappable, Lisa will not allow poverty to define her. She leads a useful life working among the sick poor.
Under startling circumstances, Henri-Antoine and Lisa meet. There is instant attraction. When they find themselves attending the same wedding in the country, Henri-Antoine offers Lisa a scandalous proposition, one she should refuse but yearns to accept. Following her heart could ruin them both.
A standalone romantic adventure set against the backdrop of Treat, ancestral home of the dukes of Roxton. Satyr's Son will delight fans of the series with cameos by many beloved characters, while new listeners will discover the myriad pleasures and glittering aristocratic world of the Roxton family through the fresh eyes of newcomer Lisa Crisp. Satyr's Son is a Cinderella story with a heartwarming happily ever after.

Strangely, this book has been on my TBR list since before it was even released. Somehow after adding it to my “to be read” list, I lost track of it and then when I noticed it, I thought I had already read it. When I recently finished the latest Alec Halsey book by Lucinda Brant, I read the description on this one again and realized I had never read it.
What a joy it was to discover that and then to be able to both read and listen to this book at the same time. Teddy and Jack are delightful and I was happy to read about their love, their friendship and their wedding, the fitting outcome of their long attachment to one another. I also so appreciated Teddy and Lisa’s great friendship, as well as Jack and Harry.
But most of all, my heart melted throughout the entire revelation of the relationship between Henri Antoine and Lisa Crisp. Their meeting is indeed unique and rather difficult, but also beautiful in its own way. Henri (or Harry) is certainly not your typical love interest. Of course he is not your typical anything. But neither is Lisa.
Their interactions literally spark and their relationship seems destined from beginning to end. There’s is a beautiful, although troubled, love story. But the culmination of the story warmed my heart to such a degree that I nearly cried.
Truly I do not want their story to end. There is a point near the end where it is mentioned how people will someday think of them. Their relationship rang so true to me that I find myself being one of “those people” wondering what the future held for them. I truly hope that this isn’t really the end of the Roxton family series, and that perhaps we will get updates on Henri and Lisa, Jack and Teddy, as well as perhaps the younger generation of this family.
Thank you, Lucinda, for this beautiful story and wonderful family - and for making them come to life for me and many others.
The narration was, of course, brilliant, being done by the amazing Alex Wyndham.

Lucinda Brant as usual works her magic. This has a very romantic ‘Cinderella’ theme. The supporting characters are priceless!
STELLAR!

What made the experience of listening to Satyr's Son: A Georgian Historical Romance the most enjoyable?
Nicholas Boulton does a very good job differentiating between gender voices and dialects. This listen I found the cadence he uses for some voices irritating. When he reads young females' lines his speaks quickly, with a lighter tone - which is good - but he's using a choppy cadence. He emphasizes the last word in every sentence, then there's a pause, as in "full stop," then he reads the next sentence, then full stop. I want to encourage him to be mindful of this choppy style. It's not natural and I know he's better than this. The audio director needs to keep Nicholas from falling into this unnatural sounding speech pattern. This is why the narration only got 4 stars instead of the usual 5 I have given to the other books narrated by him in this series. What other book might you compare Satyr's Son: A Georgian Historical Romance to and why?
The rest of the books in the series.5 Stars, but for Narrator's Choppy Performance
