Resumen del Editor

WELCOME TO SOMEWHERE, OREGON

Nestled in a cove on Oregon's coastline, the town of Somewhere is charming, picturesque, inhabited by townsfolk who love their community—and teeming with mystery. You are invited to join the heroes and heroines of Somewhere as they solve mysteries, discover romance, experience inexplicable phenomena, and fight injustice—just the usual stuff!

SOMEWHERE FOR A HERO TO HIDE

Is there somewhere to hide from the past?

Dutch Mulvaney, a hero who will spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair, now carves sea creatures from driftwood and signs them as "Beach Bum." His relocation from the East Coast to the small coastal town of Somewhere in Oregon was a desperate attempt to salvage his sanity and dignity. Now, after a year of solitude, he finally feels ready to venture back into society.

Taylor Jones enjoys her job as a waitress at Mama Pink's Diner, the most popular eatery in Somewhere. Daily, she thanks the universe for Edna Pink, the owner. Without Edna's help she could very well be six feet under, with her two precious sons being raised by a crime lord. When a disabled man enters the diner she gets a premonition that her life is about to change. Should she remain in the town she loves, or run yet again?

Loved it

I got this story via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. I loved this story. The interactions between the characters were very well done. I loved how the X'x still loved each other and could work together even though they could never be husband and wife. The way the kids and the main character got along is so sweet. The extra ghost really made the story come alive. I have not listened to the two that came before this one but did not get lost in the story. Again it was an enjoyable listen. The narrator kept me on the edge of my seat and even though I started listening late at night, I could not stop until I got to the end.

Romance with a dash of the paranormal...........

Somewhere for a Hero to Hide is the third book in the series, and I had a little difficulty following some of the story threads by not listening to the first two books in the series. Once I tried to let go of figuring out the background and just listened to the current story lines, I really enjoyed this book. Somewhere is a small town in Oregon with some ghosts of former residents playing guardian angel and matchmaker to the current residents. Dutch is an amputee in a wheelchair who spends his day carving beautiful wood sculptures from driftwood he gathers on the beaches of Somewhere and mostly isolating himself from society. When he decides to get a little people contact by eating at the local diner, Mama Pink's, he meets Taylor, a woman of super model beauty with a shy and sweet personality. She is a single mother of two boys, and the four quickly become a family of sorts. As Dutch and Taylor move towards falling in love with each other, there are sinister forces plotting against them, so they might need some help from those guardian angel matchmakers. Throughout the main story of Taylor and Dutch, there are chapters devoted to other residents of Somewhere navigating a very bumpy road to their HEA, and the author does a skillful job of winding these all together into an exciting and satisfying conclusion.

Cate Barratt does a great job with the narration. Her performance was flawless and smooth, and she had a slight accent that caught my ear but didn't distract from the story. I would definitely listen to another audiobook written by Clay and/or narrated by Barratt.

I received a copy of this audiobook at my request in exchange for this honest review.

Not sure what to think

I got an ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
That being said, I did not realize that it was a third in a series and definitely NOT stand alone. I did not read the two prior books and so was completely clueless for the first 1.5 hours of the book until the characters started to make sense. It seemed like a lot of the first 1.5 hours were a walk down memory lane of the previous books with references to those events and how they turned out. There were a lot of characters and they each got their own chapters so that the actual story of the Hero and Taylor was only 1/4 of the book. It was an interesting story line, and the hero was definitely someone that may have ended up being heroic In this story too. However, the entire story was geared toward the supernatural elements of the afterlife and thus, the hero did not end up having to do much of anything. I felt completely lost and I think I would have gotten a whole lot more out of this story if I had read the prior books.
