Still a crazy Joe fan 😜

I've been a fan of the Eagles since the 70's. I really enjoyed this inside look into Joe Walsh's life. Some things I was surprised to hear, but most of it didn't shock me. Kristin did a great job detailing her life with Joe without bad mouthing him. There was no portrait of one sided fault. This book details the good and bad on both sides. Kristin never claims to be an angel or "roll model girlfriend". This is Kristin's journey, Joe just happened to be a big part of it. Very well done from the book to the narration, it's certainly worth a listen for Walsh fans.

Interesting listen but Ms. Johansson needs to pronounce rock legend names correctly!

“L-eee-von” not “Levin” Helm! Glenn “Fry” not “Fray”. Slightly distracting mispronunciations but otherwise a decent faire.

hitting rock bottom, over and over

fascinating story line, very much a story of the "rock chic" and the "rock star", pretty much as I have fantasized a rock star life to be, with it's crazy highs and deabilitaing lows. hard to feel sorry for her, and her many issues. would love to hear Joe's side of the story, if there is one.

So much sex

In the author's interviews, I've heard so much about how Joe treated her like a queen and how he was so afraid of his sexual needs being made public, but this memoir exposes ALL of his sexual needs to the point of kink shaming. She expresses that she is now a therapist in this field- which makes her open to share since she was not a therapist at this time- she still exploits what Joe enjoys. She even brags about sleeping with his road manager. The tale starts out sensitive to his sensitive and privacy-seeking spirit yet does not hesitate to focus back on her own sexual needs. For most of the book, she comes across as a sex addict who needs sexual gratification at every turn. I'm a hyper sexual person myself, but she focuses on the minute sexual details in order to humiliate and flatter her partners. It's really a tabloid piece that is exceptionally intrusive. If Joe were a sex fiend like Gene Simmons, or a sex expert like Sting, it would be different. She was his lover. He entrusted her with his needs. She exploited his kinks for her own financial benefit. For most of the book, she acts like she doesn't know he is Joe Walsh of the Eagles/James Gang/Barnstorm/ Joe Walsh fame. She acts like she was a blind participant in this man's life. The book takes place in the late 80's/ early 90's when Joe was at his worst with drug addiction and dwindling fame. It starts as an endearing memoir of his adoration before digging in to what a horrible human he was due to his drug needs.

Authentic woman who grew into her own and beat addiction.

This story is chalked full of real life experiences where the writer opens her soul. Her authenticity is so real. While on death’s doorstep, she overcomes death with her love of life and knowing she had an unfilled life’s purpose. I smiled, cried, and marvel over this wonderful woman.

Interesting but Sad

I thought the book was interesting and very sad. It told of a girl stuck in old beliefs that a woman needs a man to complete her life. A story of a young woman that was confused, delighted and never knowing exactly where she fit in. Never understanding why she wasn’t sexually desirable to the man she loved. She settled. This resulted in years of frustration, loneliness, depression and self-destruction. She eventually found a lost little girl and became a woman she can be proud of in the end.
