After hearing a sermon by Richard Allen, founder of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, she experienced a spiritual awakening. She began preaching in 1820 and became a travelling minister who traveled thousands of miles on foot throughout the North American continent.

During a time of slavery the LORD opened her way as a black women, preaching the good news. It confirms God's grace and his power to using any one, especially women to share His good news. It's not about the intellect alone, but about the depandance on God and obeying and putting his Word into practice, following His lead.
