Resumen del Editor

Audie Award Nominee, Best Thriller/Suspense Category, 2013

The presidential campaign trail, 2012: A political operative and a volunteer are brutally murdered while caught in a compromising position. Written in their blood on the wall of the crime scene: IT'S GOOD TO BE BACK.

And with that, a centuries-old horror known only as the Boogeyman returns to taunt Nathaniel Cade, the president's vampire. Against the backdrop of the 2012 presidential race, with the threat of constant exposure by the media, Cade and Zach must stop the one monster Cade has never been able to defeat completely. And they must do it before the Boogeyman adds another victim to his long and bloody list: the President of the United States himself.

A great series, the "Dexter" of Vampires

Would you consider the audio edition of Red, White, and Blood to be better than the print version?

The narration by Bronson Pinchot is outstanding, I had to go back and look if it was THAT Bronson Pinchot. He makes an already mesmerizing story Ultra-mesmerizing

Who was your favorite character and why?

Nathaniel Cade, he is a GOOD vampire, what else do you need to know?

What does Bronson Pinchot bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His pacing is perfect, he distinguishes each character without tricks, he is the voice that anyone would want for their own internal narrator if they were reading it themselves

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The ending, in the epilogue (not giving that away)

Any additional comments?

Bronson Pinchot should narrate of every other audible book, okay, maybe that is overdoing it, but he should take turns with John Lee, Pete Bradbury and Ron Perlman. The Nathaniel Cade series is not the typical "Twilight" spawned romantic vampire drivel being churned out for pubescent goth girls. This is a story with intelligence that you can sink your teeth into.

entire series is incredible

check out the entire Nathanial Cade series all narrated by Bronson Pinchot. Pinchot brings the characters to life. I read the books when they first came out and reread them on audible. Excellent series, and great performance

Still going strong

Great 3rd book in the series!
Great action, really interesting villains that actually make the good guys work extremely hard for their wins and even then they aren't wholly defeated, clinging on to life like a tick. I find this to be a refreshing change of pace from other series where the bad guys are eventually completely overwhelmed and the good guys win the day; here the bad guys sometimes actually WIN or cause so much damage as to be almost the same thing as winning.

Another thing I really like are the continuation of the short historical blurbs about cases that Cade has dealt with in the past, or accounts regarding notorious real-life serial killers who we learn have been affected by the supernatural in this fictional universe. These anecdotes really help to further the illusion of realism, grounding Farnsworth's characters in a semblance of reality that we as the readers are able to grasp, thereby tying us even more into the narrative.

One criticism I do have however is that I am disappointed by the fact that Cade, despite being able to think faster than any human being and having over a century of experience under his belt is unable to predict the rather obvious predicaments that he regularly finds himself in. For instance during the hotel shootout scene you would think that he as well as Zack and the FBI agents would stop to think that maybe the motorcycle satanist gang took all those pounds of C4 (which they know they possess) and wired the hotel to explode, but nooooo, Cade walks right in. There have been other times in the previous books where I've thought this as well but fortunately the rest of the book is so well put-together that I don't mind it too much.

Very much looking forward to book 4 what with how this book ended, holy crap! xD

Leaves you wanting more, but in a good way

I am a huge fan of Farnsworth's The President's Vampire series. I put off getting this one mainly because of some reviews that suggested the ending made them wish they'd never read (listened to) the book. I try to avoid explicit spoilers, so I wasn't sure of the exact reason. Eventually I was so desperate for more Cade I went ahead and bought it anyway. If you're a fan of the series, I think you will enjoy this story probably as much as the others. Everyone has their favorite of the three, but it's not like this one is the weakest link. The end of this one definitely leaves you dying for more. If the next one was available I'd have bought it within 2 minutes of finishing this one. But it's been ten years since this one came out, and even though Farnsworth has said he hopes to continue the series at some point - and has released a couple very short novellas available, I believe, only in eBook form - I'm not terribly optimistic he's going to add a full length novel anytime soon, if ever. So the end of this one is kiiiiind of a cliff hanger, but this story stands on its own. It's not like some I've read that leave you hanging in terms of the story you have in your hand right now and feels like they just ended it mid-chapter, if that makes sense. Bottom line, I wish there was more, but I do not for a nanosecond regret listening to this one.

Wow he does it again!

Would you listen to Red, White, and Blood again? Why?

I already have two times. It's just that great!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The plot of this book seems really linear at the start but after 20 mins or so you enter a rollercoaster of plot twists and red herrings that leave you guessing about with will happen next.

Have you listened to any of Bronson Pinchot’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes but only in the first two of The president's vampire books. I feel he does a great job at catching the character of each person in the book and passes this on to the listener in the nuances he uses.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

To Be Continued.

Any additional comments?

If you liked the first or second book even a little you will love this one.

Good fun for what it is

Come on, it is a story about the presidential vampire, what did you expect? OK, so its not quite as good as the previous two -- but, still, quite a fun listen. And Mr. Pinchot's reading is just perfect. The "ennui" of Cade is absolutely amusing. The silly rage of the supernaturals is simply charming. No, it's not great literature (or, perhaps, even 'literature') or even a great mystery. It's just fun -- in a presidential-vampire kind of way.

I will definitely listen to the next one.

Makes politics fun

What did you love best about Red, White, and Blood?

What a great series. Makes the day of sewing go by quickly, but makes interruptions really, really annoying!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Listened at work, in the car, at the grocery store, went home and listened to it instead of watching tv.

Any additional comments?

When they make the movie, Jim Caviezel should play Cade!
