New York Times best seller

From the best-selling author of Dark Matter and the Wayward Pines trilogy comes a relentless thriller about time, identity, and memory - his most mind-boggling, irresistible work to date, and the inspiration for Shondaland’s upcoming Netflix film.

"Gloriously twisting...a heady campfire tale of a novel." (The New York Times Book Review)

Named one of the Best Books of the Year by Time • NPR • BookRiot

Reality is broken.

At first, it looks like a disease. An epidemic that spreads through no known means, driving its victims mad with memories of a life they never lived. But the force that’s sweeping the world is no pathogen. It’s just the first shock wave, unleashed by a stunning discovery - and what’s in jeopardy is not our minds but the very fabric of time itself.

In New York City, Detective Barry Sutton is closing in on the truth - and in a remote laboratory, neuroscientist Helena Smith is unaware that she alone holds the key to this mystery...and the tools for fighting back.

Together, Barry and Helena will have to confront their enemy - before they, and the world, are trapped in a loop of ever-growing chaos.

When I saw a new book by Blake Crouch was coming I pre-ordered without even reading the description. I knew it would be great. My first Crouch book was Pines and I loved everything about the series. I then read Run and Snowbound. When Dark Matter came out it was different and great and made you want more.

Recursion reminds me of Dark Matter but is so much better and Dark Matter was amazing. Every time I paused I was left looking forward to the next time I could listen. By the time I had reached the final hour I was beginning to think about listening to the book again, which I have never done.

There was one moment in the last 15 minutes that I thought the end of the book was going to be a disappointment but less than a minute later I understood and loved the ending.

This is a book you will not regret purchasing.

This is the book you're looking for!

It's not just the recency of reading it either that's making me believe that statement. Dark Matter was amazing but struggled just a tad in the 3rd act. Pines was amazing too ofcourse but Recursion is, well, flawless. It's one of those rare stories that as soon as you finish you find yourself wishing you could go back in time and enjoy it for the first time again!

Honestly the best I've read in years

If you are used to military space opera future kind of stuff don't let this earthbound title put you off. I am that kind of person and was not sure this would work but it's got all the elements needed to create a world that easily met and surpassed my expectations.

ADD DIALOGUE TO THE LAST SCENE, PLEASE!!!!

Just like the title says, this book was creative, well written, and just scientifically accurate enough to convince me of the possibility that Blake Crouch knows TOO much about our biology. I loved this concept, and I hope there are alternate timelines around us now with history playing out in every which way.

I actually really enjoyed this book. The ending dragged a little bit longer than I would have liked, and then the end of the epilogue was terrible. it just left me hanging

not a good ending

I’m really glad there were two narrators, which made the story easier to follow. This could have easily been made in to two books but I’m SO happy it wasn’t. It makes more sense as one and the story would have lost a lot of the thrill.

Starts slow but gets good

Great listen! SciFi at its best with a driving narrative and characters that evoke an emotional response in the listener.

Best book I’ve listen to to in months!

I loved flawed characters! Also a story that there is no way you can predict the end to. It bends your mind backward and forward trying to wrap around it. But, its worth it! Amazing performances and the inventiveness of the author is beyond imagining. You wont be disappointed.

Totally gripping. You have to see it through!

I have to say, I always buy Blake Crouch’s new books as they come out. I was highly impressed with Dark Matter, and I’m very impressed with this book. I love time travel stories, and this one has a little bit of a twist, because it doesn’t have you the reader needing to believe in a time machine, only in memories. It is a roller coaster of a ride, a bit confusing at times with all the timelines you have to keep track of, but well worth it. Stick to end for a bit of a humor that was perfect.

Time and memory

I became a fan of Blake Crouch's work many years ago when I read his book "Abandon." He writes riveting stories that make me feel like I am in the midst of the story myself. In fact, his first book I read influenced me to drag my family to central California to visit a historic ghost town. "Recursion" did not disappoint. Beyond the great storytelling, Blake makes me mull over philosophical questions for months and even years after the initial read. Can't wait for the next exploration of the universe with Mr. Crouch!

Oh Blake Crouch, You've Done It Again!
