Lisa Kleypas
New York Times bestselling author Lisa Kleypas continues her beloved Friday Harbor series with a heartwarming tale of second chances and new beginnings.
Glass artist Lucy Marinn has just had her heart shattered. She had envisioned a beautiful future in Friday Harbor with her fiancé Kevin. But not only has Kevin dumped her—he’s left her for her sister. Despite his betrayal, Lucy largely blames herself—apparently this was just another wrong move in a series of bad romantic choices.
Kevin may not want to marry Lucy, but he still cares for her. He convinces his friend Sam Nolan, who owns a vineyard on San Juan Island, to date Lucy and help her recover from her bitterness. But when Sam and Lucy begin to get serious, Kevin starts having second thoughts. And when Lucy discovers why Sam approached her in the first place, it threatens their budding romance.
Can Lucy put her broken heart back together, finally escape old patterns, and discover true love in Friday Harbor?

We get a more notable integration of magic in book 2 with glass artist Lucy Marinn who is betrayed by fiancé Kevin with her sister. Alice has been spoiled her entire life since she had meningitis when she was 5. Adding insult, Lucy had to move out of Kevin’s house so Alice could move in. Lucy finds refuge with cousins Justine & Zoë Hoffman at the Artist’s Point Bed & Breakfast. (Keep these names in mind for the next two books.)
Sam Nolan says he’ll never marry, which means he has no intention of becoming serious with any woman. But he’s there for his brother and niece. He’s kind to his friends and neighbors. And he has his own magic with the land and his grapevines. Sam likes Lucy so when Kevin calls in a favor owed with the request to date her to take family pressure off Alice, Sam agrees. But he’s up front with Lucy and, after the anger, they agree to eat & work together to find a new apartment for her. Then Justine convinces Sam to take Lucy to Rainshadow House to convalesce after an accident. Their attraction takes off. There’s a lovely scene where her glass magic and his land magic intersect.
Unfortunately, York has a somewhat flat narration style.

Such an improvement on her regency romance novels. All her men are almost the same, but her AI help was worth it.
