Resilience at its best!!
The description and narrator brought the characters to life. I actually had to hit pause for fear of openly crying for Nelly in a public place!! Well written!

Author’s voice perfect for the story
I really enjoyed this book, and the author’s voice really added to the ambience of hearing it. The story had such a wonderful flow of emotions over the life of Ellen/Nellie/Queenie. The descriptive writing really provided a vivid snapshot of each moment without overdoing it. (Some stories get lost in too many details) this story was succinct and painted the scenes immediately, and the dialogue was well done. I think it was a great choice to have the author be the one to speak this story.

A book to never forget
So much to laugh and cry about within pages. It was a journey I will never forget. The audio version was perfect. I will always remember the phrase, “bloody hell.” I loved this story. Thank you!
