Resumen del Editor

Someone’s killing London’s wittiest pamphleteers.

It’s 1589, and England is embroiled in a furious pamphlet war between an impudent Puritan calling himself Martin Marprelate and publishing’s brightest wits. The archbishop wants Martin to hang. The Privy Council wants the tumult to end. But nobody knows who Martin is or where he’s hiding his illegal press.

Then two writers are strangled, mistaken for Thomas Nashe, the pamphleteer who is hot on Martin’s trail. Francis Bacon is tasked with stopping the murders - and catching Martin, while he’s about it. But the more he learns, the more he fears Martin may be someone dangerously close to home.

Can Bacon and his band of intelligencers stop the strangler before another writer dies, without stepping on Martin’s possibly very important toes?

Number four is gold

This is the fourth Francis Bacon mystery I have listened to in the last 6-8 weeks. I very much enjoy the series and I be patient for book 5&6 to be issued on Audible.

Like the other books in the series, the mystery is strong and keeps you guessing. The characters are well formed and I found it easy to invest their individual arcs.

As always, Trumpet is my favorite. Funny. Spunky. Full of fun. I always cheer when she appears in the books.

Highly recommended for people who like mysteries with a little wit and good historical background.

Fun with Francis (Bacon) Facts and Fiction

The research and attention to details of the lives of Francis Bacon and the people in his orbit makes for a marvelous listening experience.
I've enjoyed this series greatly for the way Anna Castle has weaved quirky characters, real and fictional into real and fictional mysteries.
I had to listen to this one twice to completely follow the "Martin" plots. I found that listening to the historical notes at the end added to the richness of Publish and Perish.
