a bit of a teary read
This story had me crying really early on, and while it wasn't a sob-fest, there were other tears further along. The main character is a complicated but understandable woman in a heart-wrenching circumstance, which is also understandable. Growth is evident and the secondary characters are mostly relatable. I found the love interest to be a pretty flat character, and the sense of place was cursory. The conclusion was a bit unsatisfying and workman-like. The narration gave me pause. The pacing was odd and was often confused by the dialogue as range was limited. This would have benefited from an additional male narrator. This was a good story and will look for more from this author.
