A solid fantasy story

This was a pretty good fantasy story. It started a bit slow, but once it starts to pick up, it really get's going. I enjoyed the world building and characters very much. The narrator did a good job of bringing the book to life. So, I would definitely be open to more in this series.

Definitely in the top 10. It really is that good.

Have you listened to any of J. M. Needham’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I haven't listened to him before, but I will any time I have a chance now.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did try, but it just didn't work out for me.
For book 2, I'll start in the wee hours of the morning.

Holy cow I REALLY need to know what happens next. May 1st can't get here soon enough.

I'm pretty sure I suspect something, but it's probably just wishful thinking.
Also, thank you M & Michelle for such a freaking great book!

How will this unravel?

This is not a stand alone story- ends in a cliffhanger! Tristan’s father, the King, believes it is Tristan’s destiny to correct their ailing magic-less world. Hopefully the next book will better explain why the lack of magic is causing problems. The synopsis says Tristan, but actually Davian and two other main characters are along on the journey to find Tri-Gard. They do not all start off together. A long the way the group have their trials and mishaps. We get an insight into many deceptions and secrets being kept.

This is a good story. I like the silly banter between the kids. So far, there are not too many overly convenient things to help them along. This is the first book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I would listen to another. I am interested in finding out what happens next and would like to listen to the next audio book.

This is the first book I’ve listened to by this narrator and I would listen to another. He goes a good job choosing different voices for each character including the female characters. His pace is good and expression appropriate to the story.

There is a minor amount of swearing that feels out of place in a medieval/magic setting. Inappropriate and unnecessary in my opinion. There is no excessive violence or explicit sex.

Great start to a series and plot twists

Where does Prophecy of Darkness rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

For a first book in a series, it's up there.

What other book might you compare Prophecy of Darkness to and why?

It somewhat resembles the Seven Realms series, but maybe lighter(?)

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Some parts made me what to put the book down, like when the king wanted the forced marriage and the king's forced oversights in general.

Any additional comments?

Great characters that really engage the audience. You want them to do well and feel it when they don't. Th magic system is building, right now it's still fuzzy. And that cliffhanger plot-twist..!! Can't wait to read/listen the next book!

Worth every minute

This book is one of the best stories of Good and evil. Fantasy at its best. A must read. You will fall in love with these characters and their story. I cannot wait for the next one. I received this audio book for free at my request and voluntarily reviewed.

Good Fantasy

"I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request, via Audiobook Boom, and have voluntarily left this review." This book started off well then veered off course then came back. I loved Davi and thought the king was somewhat interesting in the beginning. The story was developed but the one thing that happened after listening to it for three days it ended on a cliffhanger. I think that if an author can write that many words they could end the story in a satisfactory manner even if it is the start of a series.The imaginary was presented well and I could see the world building but a cliffhanger, please. The narrator was very good.

An Exciting Fantasy with a Surprise ending

Storyline begins rather slow, but escalated into an action fantasy that sometimes has surprising twists to it. Definitely needs a following book

Fantasy come to life

What a whirlwind of magic, forbidden love, hardships, pain, kingdom fights, and much more. Magic once existed but was taken away before Trystan was old enough to remember but now in order to save his kingdom he must try to find the last remaining true magic users to bring it back to not only save the kingdom but all people. Famine rubs rampage with food getting more scare. Great characters and great story.

I loved reading about this world - how it is deteriorating without magic and how people are not coping, surviving, without magic. To save his people and ensure their survival, the hero, the prince, has to go through great lengths and betrayal and sacrifices.

A pleasurable read for book lovers. Loved reading the secrets of these people and sensing their betrayal and loss. Looking forward to the next book - after the ending of this book, I am anxious to find out what more surprises will be in store for us.

Full of magic (or lack of magic), guardians of magic, enemies, seers, prophecies, secrets, deception, betrayal, surprises, family, friendship, love and forbidden romances.

Perfect for readers of fantasy romances/epic fantasy.

The narrator was highly impressive! Loved listening to his voice - very alluring and compelling. Outstanding!

This is a must read!!

Oh my laws!! This book is fantastic!! There is adventure around every turn. Romance that you hoped for and I was lost in the world this created for me! I was completely drawn in and couldnt stop listening. It was beautifully narrated which made it come alive for me.
