Resumen del Editor

Experience the mystery and suspense of the best-selling legal thriller.

Can too big to fail get away with murder?

Read the compelling legal novel by the best-selling author of An Involuntary Spy. Brent Marks had paid his dues as a lawyer, having taken his share of divorces and drunk driving cases over his 20 year career, but had finally reached a place in his life where he could take on cases of social importance. What he least expected was for April Marsh's predatory lending case against the big banks for wrongful foreclosure on her parent's home to turn into a murder investigation. April's mother was murdered. Her father was beaten within an inch of his life, and she believes their predatory lender is to blame. Are banks really that above the law?

Crooks in High Places

Interesting and relevant legal tale about the devastating fallout faced by many Americans due to the greed of big banks. Detailed courtroom procedures which give the reader/listener insight into the workings of our legal system. Lack of development of the main characters (Brent, April, Angela etc.) was a problem for me. Predictable ending...

A most compelling yarn

Wow, @KennethEade1 has provided us with a most compelling yarn; “Predatory Kill” will have you flicking pages so quickly you’ll get RSI or in my case feigning deafness while wandering around with my earphones wedged in tight courtesy of the very excellent @Bill_Lord_

We are treated to vivid suspense from start to finish, frenzied killers, sleazy lawyers and murderous bankers are all thrown against our mild mannered hero who after 20 years as an attorney takes up the banner for his beautiful client and fights the financial establishment for the common man.

The action is well interspersed with clever use of the legal system, balancing the shock of the murder and mayhem with the equally deadly verbal fencing of the court room. The author obviously draws on his considerable experience and these scenes are extremely well observed and provide the reader with so much detail you feel as if you could actually be there.

The narration from Bill Lord added depth and colour to the text, his very infectious inflection and intonation brought the characters to life and kept me avidly listening throughout the proceedings.

Thanks Kenneth I'm looking forward to the next one.

A heart pumping read

The twists and turns that occur keep you intrigued and wanting more. I enjoy when an author throws in the unexpected. I did get a bit "lost" during several of the court scenes in which it talks about the laws of RICO. Overall an exciting mystery that gets your blood pumping and your mind thinking.

Cheer for the Underdog!

Would you consider the audio edition of Predatory Kill to be better than the print version?

Yes, as it's an engaging book that does not get bogged down in detail. Listening to it make my commute go by quickly!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

As the "bad guy" in this book was the big banks that drove us to near financial ruin, I found myself cheering for the plaintiff. While there weren't a lot of plot twists, it still kept me engaged throughout the book.

What does Bill Lord bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Bill Lord has a very energetic pleasant voice to listen to, and he brings the characters to life. His use of inflection keeps the drier parts of describing the financial and legal processes interesting and entertaining.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, when my favorite character was killed, although I wish the book would have closed that chapter with a little more detail on what happened to that person. (Don't want to say too much and give anything away!)

Any additional comments?

Great, relatively short listen that I really enjoyed. I will definitely listen to more books narrated by Bill Lord
