Resumen del Editor

Humankind may have won the battle, but a new threat looms larger than ever before....

Earth's armed forces have stopped the Lanky advance and chased their ships out of the solar system, but for CDC officer Andrew Grayson, the war feels anything but won. On Mars, the grinding duty of flushing out the 20-meter-tall alien invaders from their burrows underground is wearing down troops and equipment at an alarming rate. And for the remaining extrasolar colonies, the threat of a Lanky attack is ever present.

Earth's game changer? New advanced ships and weapons, designed to hunt and kill Lankies and place humanity's militaries on equal footing with their formidable foes. Andrew and his wife, Halley, both now burdened with command responsibilities and in charge of more lives than just their own, are once again in humanity's vanguard as they prepare for this new phase in the war. But the Lankies have their own agenda...and in war, the enemy doesn't usually wait until you are prepared.

As Andrew is once again plunged into the chaos and violence of war with an unyielding species, he is forced to confront the toll this endless conflict is taking on them all, and the high price of survival...at any cost.

Mildly disappointed

I've loved this series until this book. Kind of disappointed in this one. Felt like a filler book, nothing really new just more of the same. Hope the next one is better else I'm likely to lose interest..

Kloos and Daniels for Commonwealth Presidency.

Kloos fires with a continuation into our story with a battlefield psychology aspect that brings a understanding tone to those of us who don't know what it feels like.

Daniels nails the audio as usual.

Better and Better

I really don’t know how Kloos does it but the Frontlines series gets better every book. The ability of the author to make to feel like you are truly a part of these characters live is rather astonishing to me. But to me, it’s once again, a story that truly comes to life because of Luke Daniels - to be fair, I do go looking for books where he is the narrator. Kloos is a strong writer and in concert with Daniels narration - the book has so much more depth to it. Well done ...yet again.

PTSD in the series

I’ve been a fan in Andrew since the beginning. Each book carries the story further and doesn’t seem to stall or get to a point where you’re just sick of it all like in other series. I like the fact that Andrew has PTSD. It makes the story realistic. I’m imagining Andrew and Hallie eventually becoming top brass in the series with a focus on other characters in order to make it a bigger story overall. I think of Neal Asher’s Polity where he’s in the same universe but comes up with different characters and stories within that world. I’d like to find out more about the Lankies though. Sorry if I misspelled names but this is the audio version. Like Daniels is a perfect fit for these books because you can almost feel what the characters feel in the way Daniels expressing himself. He conveys emotion and moods expertly. I’ve read the Kindle versions of these books and even in my head the dialogue is voiced by Luke Daniels! Anyway this is a series I never get tired of and eagerly await the next book.

another great entry

overall I really enjoyed this book. the only thing that could have been better is if there was theme music at parts. I'll try and avoid spoilers but at one point they literally played a song that match the scene perfectly but they didn't play the song in the audiobook. huge missed opportunity

Great Sci-fi with deep and complicated characters

The Frontline series has been a favorite of mine for a while. Its solid military sci-fi, but it also delves into the psychological and physical trauma suffered from prolonged war. The characters in the series are deep and complicated, making them so much more than just soldiers and redshirts to move the plot along. Points of Impact seem to be the start of the wrap of the series and I hear that there will be at least one or two more books. It continues the story arc of the series, but at this point, the war has started to wind down as humans are gain some weapon superiority and developed a better understanding of the lankies and their tactics. I'm looking forward to finding out how the series ends.

Always worth the credit.

I really believe this is a 4 star book in my rating system (a good, solid, enjoyable book but not outstanding) EXCEPT that every single installment of the series has rated a 4 in my opinion. I have to give the author an outstanding rating for such rare consistency and quality through so many books.

I have no idea where this story is going or how it will end but I will read each new book until the end or no more are written.

Disappointed

One of my favorite series... SPOILERS: but this didn't deliver anything new. None of the trademark metaphors. No new ideas. Seemed more like the plot of a free sample or the beginning of a longer book. Even seemed to repeat things, giving a sense of deja-didn't-I-hear-that-recently, here and there as if padding the word count. Still enjoyable, but I'd rather read a new series from Kloos if he's out of ideas on this one. In fact, I think I'll see what else he's written...
