Ten years ago, Peter Pan left Neverland to grow up, leaving behind his adolescent dreams of boyhood and resigning himself to life as Wendy Darling. Growing up, however, has only made him realize how inescapable his identity as a man is.
But when he returns to Neverland, everything has changed: the Lost Boys have become men, and the war games they once played are now real and deadly. Even more shocking is the attraction Peter never knew he could feel for his old rival, Captain Hook—and the realization that he no longer knows which of them is the real villain.

This has a bit of a slow start to understand what is going on and where Peter has been, but once it starts unraveling, I was invested. This is both a Peter Pan retelling, but also a little love letter to trans folks, and how dare Chant make me shed a tear over Captain Hook!
The Peter Pan retelling was whimsical, with the lost boys and pirates doing their fighting thing, and fairies begrudgingly helping out when necessary. But the pièce de résistance in this is exploring Peter, his past, giving him the space to understand himself, and how he continues on with his life.
We learn the significance of neverland, how it's real and also not, and we get to watch the characters come to terms with things they've ran from, things they're avoiding. Neverland is the place you can go to take a break from what troubles you in the real world, and I loved that it existed. I also loved that there were essentially NPCs, and other real lost boys who needed somewhere to go. Getting into Hook's brain also hit me hard in the feelings, and the HEA was so precious. .
This was such a great retelling of Peter Pan, and such a nice exploration into transness, dysphoria, and mental health.
The narration was also excellent!
