Lilly's best pal Scarlett "Dixie" Jefferson has done it again! She's convinced eccentric poodle-loving billionaire Archibald Lowry to sponsor a grand fundraiser for the Eastern Tennessee Poodle Rescue. Tragically, it's too late to rescue Lowry, who is murdered at the event. His pet poodle is now orphaned, so Dixie begs Lilly to foster the adorable pup. Fortunately, Aggie seems to like the new addition to the family, whom Lilly renames Rex, after her second favorite mystery author, Rex Stout.

But she's barely welcomed Rex into her home when there's an attempted poodle-nabbing, foiled with Aggie's help. As desperate characters try to get their hands on the canine cutie, Lilly turns to Dixie's dog training class to help her sort through a litter of suspects. Ultimately, she may have to unleash Rex as bait to collar the killer....

So Far So Great!

I am really enjoying this series. I like the friendship between Lilly and Dixie and their inside jokes like Dixie saying quotes when she gets nervous. I like how they can encourage each other by being able to break into laughter with each other even when they are having a down moment. You can sense a deep caring and acceptance of each other from their interactions with each other. This adds some humor to the story, which I like in a murder mystery story. I also like the development of the other characters in the story. The storyline was very interesting and easy to listen to. This book cited two different narrators but it sounded like Madison Vaughn, whom I enjoy hearing. I plan on getting the next book.

Paw and Order

Another great addition to this series! If you’re an animal lover like me & love cozy mysteries, I think you will like this series. Aggie the Poodle gets a new fur brother & Lily helps to solve another series of related crimes including two murders. Of course Lily’s TBI boyfriend wants her to let law enforcement do their job but as usual she gets very involved. Good storyline with lots of action that makes the book hard to put down until the end.

the consistency of the narrators voice. no dramatics.

like the story line with dogs included. Dixie is my favorite character . learned a lot about training dogs. like books where I learn things.

What do you know...another murder

This is the latest book in this series that has Lilly again finding herself in the middle of a couple of murders.

This time, she meets a very eccentric (and very rich) gentleman with an adorable poodle at a gala fundraiser for her best friend Dixie's dog organization. Right after she meets him, he is murdered at the event. Several other things happen and before you know it Lilly and her friends and her daughter Stephanie, along with the crew from her weekly dog training group are invested in finding the killer or killers.

In this book, Stephanie (her daughter) is actually having a bit of a break with Joe- her love interest and all around nice guy. That brings a little bit of extra drama into the situation and also made me realize how much I like Joe and Turbo (his partner K9 police dog).

Anyway, as usual, the group begins to figure things out and then Lilly and Dixie find themselves in a bit more danger than they were expecting (isn't that always the case?)

I'm not sure if I've mentioned the narrator Madison Vaughn, who has been the consistent voice of all of the books in this series so far. I've enjoyed her portrayal of all of the characters.

As usual, I enjoyed this fast and easy read/listen and am looking forward to the next book.

Paw and Order is an enjoyable cozy mystery with an interesting plot. I look forward to the next book.

Dog Lovers Cozy Mystery

This book, much like the previous books, focuses on Lillie and her gang's love of dogs. I thought the dog shows, dog training, etc. was interesting. I could seriously do without all of the dog's face licking. I think those dogs licked every face in this book.

The mystery was predictable. There were no surprise with Lilly and the gang doing what they do. It was the daughter's turn to be part of the amateur sleuths investigation. There was some tension between the daughter and her boyfriend, but that was about it.

Lily again went against what Red asked her to do, and of course, she helped save the day. This was a good book to listen to if you don't want to pay strict attention, want a plot that is fairly obvious, and want something really light to read.

I will be reading the last book because finishing a series is my.own obsession. Also, Red and Lilly's relationship is progressing and so want to see where it goes.

A wonderfully clean enjoyable listening experience

I absolutely love the characters,the plots and the modesty of the character. But more than anything I appreciate the love that is among the characters through the ups and downs. There humor is too me first rate with many laugh out loud moment, especially with headphones on. Thank you V B Burns. I am very grateful for your clean thinking, modesty and wonderful imagination. Keep it up.
