Great, second book in the series

The second book in the series was as good as the first. I’m currently reading it on Kindle, but I can’t wait for the next one to be released in audiobook format.

Sladkaya...

I loved this addition to the series, and appreciated the new plot lines it introduced. The narrators both did an excellent job.
My only real issue was that the MMC called the MFC "sladkaya," which is Russian for "sweetheart." The problem with this was that the narrator pronounced it as "slut-kay-a." I don't know what the proper pronunciation is, and this may be correct, but I wish a different endearment had been used because it always sounded like he was calling her a slut. It kept popping me out of the story.

I speed through Paved in Venom by Sonja Grey and didn't tap the breaks once!
There’s no slow build here — Paved in Venom sinks its claws in from page one and never lets go. Simona and Danil’s story is dark, twisted, and addictive. When Simona finally steps out of her comfort zone and visits her parent's native land she is kidnapped and sold back into the country she came from. Simona has no idea her “buyer” will become both her captor and her only shot at survival. Danil doesn’t just want control — he is control. But the second he lays eyes on her, the game changes and he has to have her.

This book had me spacing out and imaging evert single scene in detail. I loved the audiobook for this book and feel the male narrator's voice suited this character so well. The tension between them crackles in a dangerous mix of fear, trust, and obsession. The way Sonja writes their chemistry… it’s fire. Every look, every word, every moment between them feels charged and inevitable.

This series has captivated me from the prologue — I love that we keep getting these glimpses into who the Melnikov brothers were before the Bratva. It gives so much weight to the chaos they live in now. And the way Sonja highlights just how easily women can be taken off the streets and trafficked? It’s raw, real, and horrifying — and it makes me that much more desperate to see this brotherhood take the whole operation down.

Danil and Simona’s story is built in darkness but holds space for the spark of redemption, the ache of surrender, the hope for freedom. And honestly? I’m obsessed with this series. I’m already itching for the next brother’s book because I just know the takedown is getting closer and closer and it is going to be epic.

Final verdict:
🔥 Steamy, gritty, and emotionally charged from start to finish.
💔 Trigger warnings definitely apply — this one goes dark, but it’s worth it.
💋 4.5 stars — for the tension, the heat, and the promise of vengeance that’s still to come.

I enjoyed both books so far. I liked 1st series she had out more. this series is heavily focused on sex trafficking. it's a little much in every book. I will still continue series.

These books are amazing. I am starting to think this author can’t write a bad book. I’m hooked from the beginning of each and excited until the end. I can’t wait for all of her books to come out on audio!

AMAZING!!!

Paved in Venom by Sonja Grey (@sonjagreyauthor) is the second book in the Melnikov Bratva series. I already loved this book when I read it on my kindle. The audiobook just released today (07/30/24) and I had to immediately listen to it. The narrators did a fantastic job bringing these two characters to life. I love Danil’s Russian’s accent!!!! This is a dark bratva romance so please CHECK THE TRIGGER WARNINGS!!!! The plot and characters are so amazing. I reread this series all the time because I can’t get enough of the characters. The spice is always so good and the romance had me blushing and swooning. The Melnikov brothers will always have a special place in my heart.

Simona was selfless and strong. She goes through something traumatic but that doesn’t stop her from wanting to help find the Melnikovs’ sister. I loved her connection with Danil. They had great chemistry from the beginning. Danil is a morally grey tech genius and I love how soft he is with Simona. He always puts her first. I love the brothers. Their brotherhood is so heartwarming and they just make me smile. Simona and Danil were perfect for each other! I literally could not stop listening to this story. The characters are just so great. This book had me laughing, giggling, and tearing up. I am so excited for Lev’s audiobook to be released! I highly recommend Paved in Venom and the entire Melnikov Bratva series is you like dark romance, Bratva, touch her & die, and morally grey MMC!
