Robert Hammock had a restless spirit. He grew weary of the quiet life of Colonial Virginia and left his ancestral lands in 1774 in search of a new life on the edge of civilization. He and his wife, Milly, guided their family on a adventurous overland journey to settle in the rugged, untamed Indian lands of Georgia. Frontier life suited the Hammock family. They formed new friendships and hacked a rich and fulfilling life out of Georgia woods.
Then a War of Revolution swept the colonies, eventually invading their pristine backcountry. Robert and Milly chose to make a stand and fight, side by side, for their security and freedom. But that choice soon cost them their farm, their possessions, and their home. Forced to flee for their lives from revenge-hungry Tories and their British masters, Milly and her children became refugees across the mountains in Tennessee while Robert and his faithful slave, Frank, returned to Georgia to fight a guerrilla war against the British.
Would Robert Hammock and the tenacious Regiment of Refugees be able to drive the British from Georgia? Would Milly ever see her beloved Robert and her distant Georgia home again? Would Frank ever know real love and family or experience true freedom?
Partisans and Refugees is the heartbreaking but victorious story of an early American family torn apart by war but united by loyalty, love, and liberty.

Joshua Colter was born of the wild frontier. As a young boy living with his family on the edges of civilization during the French and Indian War, he witnessed firsthand the bloodshed and brutality men were capable of—from the deception and depredations of whites like his own vile father to the merciless vengeance of the native tribes. Forced by cruel fate to set out on his own, he was adopted by an honorable hunter who taught him to fight and survive while remaining true to his own heart.

From humble beginnings in rural Tennessee to his heroic death defending the Alamo, frontiersman, adventurer, and politician David Davy Crockett embodies the spirit and ideals of the national character. Even during his lifetime, tales of the sharpshooting, skilled woodsman were - to his delight - told, retold, and elaborated on. As a US congressman, the former Creek War militiaman steadfastly opposed President Andrew Jackson's Indian Removal Act.

Historia
After the final battle of the Civil War, Confederate Sergeant Travis Kane rode his Yankee horse away from Palmito Ranch to return to his ranch in Uvalde County. As he began the two-hundred-and-fifty-mile ride across West Texas, Travis was grateful for surviving the long, bloody war without being wounded. But now that the fighting was over, his biggest concern was for his young wife because he hadn’t received a letter from Lillian in almost two years.

Historia
The country is eager for peace, but there is anger in Cromwell’s victorious army. The men who fought for Parliament paid in blood to defeat the Royalists and secure their rights, but in Cromwell’s England, rights are reserved for only certain Englishmen. As unrest sweeps through the army, Captain William Inness speaks up for his men, challenging Parliament to honor its promises. For this, he’s accused of a crime he didn’t commit and faces the gallows. Where does a man run in Cromwell’s England to escape the hangman?

Historia
When a young boy and his father, a master gunner, leave their home in Devon they cannot know that piracy will become their life, for a while, at least. Set in the early days of the Spanish conquest of the Americas and with a young King Henry on the throne of England, this is a novel of discovery and riches, slavery and death. It is a time of innovation when guns changed from being firing tubes to cannons that could bring death and destruction. Above all, it is the story of a youth who, against the odds, becomes a man and, more, becomes a master gunner in his own right.

Ordered to hold an abandoned army post, John Dunbar found himself alone, beyond the edge of civilization. Thievery and survival soon forced him into the Indian camp, where he began a dangerous adventure that changed his life forever. Set in 1863, the novel follows Lieutenant John Dunbar on a magical journey from the ravages of the Civil War to the far reaches of the imperiled American frontier, a frontier he naively wants to see "before it is gone".

The frontiersmen were a remarkable breed of men. They were often rough and illiterate, sometimes brutal and vicious, often seeking an escape in the wilderness of mid-America from crimes committed back east. In the beautiful but deadly country which would one day come to be known as West Virginia, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois, more often than not they left their bones to bleach beside forest paths or on the banks of the Ohio River.

They came on foot and by horseback, in wagons and on rafts, singly and by the score, restless, adventurous, enterprising, relentless, seeking a foothold on the future. European immigrants and American colonists, settlers and speculators, soldiers and missionaries, fugitives from justice and from despair-pioneers all, in the great and inexorable westward expansion defined at its heart by the majestic flow of the Ohio River. This is their story, a chronicle of monumental dimension, of resounding drama and impact set during a pivotal era in our history: the birth and growth of a nation.

A college party lands freshman Hal Christianson in an America that could have been: no smartphones, no cars, no flush toilets. What he finds is a squabbling bunch of states, the consequence of the colonies having grown up on their own after European civilization collapsed from plague in the 1670s, and they are poised on the brink of war. For a socially awkward young man who takes refuge in online games, this is a bad situation.

Historical fiction at its finest
The story and the storytelling made the characters come to life to such a degree that I felt I knew the people. When tragedy fell the characters or they experienced moments of joy, you felt right along with them. I even I even found myself having to pause every once in a while, because the action was so intense! This story will resonate with fans of historic fiction, revolutionary war, buffs, and anybody who just likes a great story.
