Acerca de esta escucha

A repository of wisdom and practical counsel for any family going through a divorce.

Divorce has devastating effects on children. Yet for divorcing parents who carefully consider and manage the intricacies associated with this difficult time, both parents, as seen from the child’s perspective, can remain as loving and supportive as they ever were.

Parenting through Divorce concisely lays out the specific emotions and reactions parents need to anticipate from their children while going through separation, divorce, and its after-math. Rather than weighing parents down with complicated plans, confusing information, and legal terminology, this book takes a common-sense approach, providing listeners in a state of emotional distress with the practical, down-to-earth advice they need to sensibly and comfortingly guide their children through this often painful process. Covering the most common mistakes divorcing parents tend to make, as well as addressing special issues that come up for kids of different age groups, this book helps you retain a strong, healthy, and loving environment for your child, even in the midst of change. This is a much-needed repository of wisdom and practical counsel for any family going through a time of heightened feelings and fragile relationships.

I laughed out loud more than expected

I am a positive person and have the social wrinkles on my forehead and the Crows feet next to my eyes. I smile and laugh a lot, always searching for the positive even when things seem to be the worst situation ever. This book covered a large amount of situations that anyone would be attentive to. Sounds like the exact issue I'm going through on many of these stories. The responses to the ex, including the cursing lol. Very human, very relatable. Reguauardless, if it was in your head or out loud! This book will help the serious parent who understands, the children are the MOST effected by the parents decisions. The children have a GREAT chance of having limited mental health issues after a divorce, if both parents abandon self-centeredness, selfishness and unresolved personal issues during conflict or adversity. The courts ONLY care about the benefit of the child, not the mess the adults have gotten themselves into. Read this book to make a plan for yourself on how YOU alone will make the best of a serious situation. New generations are tapping out of marriage and having children, behavior and reactions are key if you ever hope for your own children to trust the journey of being a healthy single person, dating, marrying and having children of their own.

Wisdom

Words of wisdom to help parents navigate the road through divorce. Most importantly how to help our children during these tough times. I am currently in the process of this traumatic experience and I wish that no child nor family had to go through this. Parents seek out as much help and counseling for your marriage and resolve the conflict to try and prevent divorce. No child should have to go through this.

Powerful advice

I’m currently divorcing and have two young kids. This book gave me much reassurance that I’m not alone about my concerns for them. We hav to normalize this information so that more parents can lessen the pain of divorce on kids. Great listen!

dear mom and dad

I am at the beginning stages of my divorce, I picked up this book in an attempt to learn as much as I can and be prepared for what lies ahead. this is a great book to advocate for the equities of the children in the divorce, and how they are affected by the DraStic change in the family dynamic. a must for parents going through divorce.

I highly recommend this book!

I highly recommend this book. It helped me create options through a very difficult time when I thought I didn't have many. It encourages compromise and understanding, and adopting a whole family view of the effects of divorce and what you can do to ease them.

Not for divorcing a narcissist

This advice is great if you have two parents divorcing without a narcissistic personality disorder for one of the parents. I will say I think the first example of compromise was really unfair to the mother. Having a mother sleep at her ex’s house so she can breastfeed the baby just because the dad insists the baby should also have overnights is kind of sexist and feels like a power grab from the ex husband. If the priority is the child, the child being fed should be key. Not making the dad happy because he “feels” like the baby should spend overnights at his house. Otherwise I guess you could call this book “in a perfect world” or good for anything but high conflict divorces.
