Must read for every family!

This book provides the tools needed to create a respectful, loving family atmosphere with communication skill scripts that will enable you to put the knowledge into action. If only we were taught this in all organizations-church, school, and employment the world would be a better place!

I am so grateful I found Nicholeen Peck and I have been practicing her teachings, it has made a huge difference in my family, listening to this audio book helps me and explains everything in full detail, this is important for my children at the ages they are for me to become better at teaching them and talking to them, thank you for the guidance to help me strengthen my family!

Listening was key for me

I have had a physical copy of this book for years and have tried several attempts to incorporate these principles and this program for my family but since the book is long I often got stuck at certain parts that I wanted to master. But listening to Nicholene read the book helped me to feel the spirit of her message and also keep it at the forefront of my mind each day. I’d listen while at the gym first thing in the morning and start my day with these principles and values in my heart. My days are flowing much more smoothly and I feel more able to govern myself which has been key for our family success. Our home and family was full of disrespect and contention. I was impatient and felt trapped in my own home. A these 2 tips made all the difference and helped me get started:

1. Don’t problem solve or try to teach until everyone is calm (including me). I put this on my phone to help me remember: 👇🏼

“It seems to me you want to tell me something. I want to know what that is but we need to choose to be calm first. Then we can talk about it.“

2. I recognized the triggers that made me feel angry and out of control (not calm). For me personally, it’s my children fighting and overall chaos or feeling physically out of control. It helped me to see when this was starting to happen and take time to get calm before attempting to fix the problem. (This goes hand in hand with my first tip.) Before, when I was overwhelmed, I’d rush to fix the issue and was working with my emotional brain and often had regrets afterward. Now I allow myself to get calm.

I highly recommend this system and process. It is not for the faint of heart and requires quite a bit of time to learn it all but it has been transformational for our family! I wish I would have done it sooner!

Love love love this book!

I own the hard copy of this book and am grateful for an audible version to listen to while I work. This has changed the way I parent and how I communicate in all my relationships for the better. It has changed my life. My kids take my words to heart and we understand each other better. The recording is well done and easy to listen to, though I liked to listen at 1.25 speed.

Sincere, Relevant & the road less traveled

Although I have not fully implemented the Self Government program as described by Nicholeen Peck I have completed this audiobook and would recommend it to any family. She keeps it fun and entertaining through analogy, personal experience and sincere passion. This program is not merely a behavioral correctional plan but teaches parents how to lead by example and master their emotions. It has provided me hope and a framework to becoming the parent I have always desired to be. I can attest that the parts I have began to implement have already improved the feeling of peace in our home and helped to bring calmness in our very busy lives. Our children are quickly learning the 4 basic skills and keep me in line when I do not follow them.

Her teaching change my life.

This is the one single book that every parent or person needs to read. The way she approach her family is like she would approach a business. Well organized and ready for success. I am not sure why parents of so many generation did record and past down the teaching of being a parents, but she did.
I was struggling to teach my toddler to respect, love, being civilized, without being aggressive like my parents once did, she changed all that for me through the 4 skill sets, pre teaching, correction? Intensive teaching and parents counseling. Through her and speaking to so many parents, I learned that consistency and pre teaching is the key to teach your child the skillsets they need to thrives and be happy in life.
She taught me that: we will self fish and unable to teach our kids. Every moment to correction should be done with love and kindness.
I am humble by the knowledge she’s passing onto us lucky ppl that get a chance to read this book.
Thank you Nicholeen, for changing my family’s life but particularly my life as a parent.

Excellent support for families

The Peck family have poured their hearts and souls into their mission of teaching families self government. I first read the book a few years ago after several recommendations from other families. We immediately started evacuating some of the principles, but I felt overwhelmed with all of the steps. In listening to the audio this time around, I realized the principles I had mastered had built a beautiful foundation for us to review and implement all that I hadn’t been able too do the first time around. It has completely flowed despite the addition of children and new life challenges. Start where you’re at, use that which feels natural and continue to add in more principles and your family and your personal life will be blessed with great abundance. It works! Greater peace and self government is just around the corner my friend.
