Historia
One Sunday afternoon, as she unloaded the dishwasher, Gretchen Rubin felt hit by a wave of homesickness. Homesick - why? She was standing right in her own kitchen. She felt homesick, she realized, with love for home itself. In a flash, she decided to undertake a new happiness project, and this time, to focus on home. And what did she want from her home? A place that calmed her, and energized her. A place that, by making her feel safe, would free her to take risks. Also, while Rubin wanted to be happier at home, she wanted to appreciate how much happiness was there already.

During her multi-book investigation into understanding human nature, Gretchen Rubin realized that by asking the seemingly dry question “How do I respond to expectations?” we gain explosive self-knowledge. She discovered that based on their answer, people fit into Four Tendencies: Upholders, Questioners, Obligers, and Rebels. Our Tendency shapes every aspect of our behavior, so using this framework allows us to make better decisions, meet deadlines, suffer less stress, and engage more effectively.

Resumen del Editor
New York Times best seller
In this lovely, easy-to-use guide to decluttering, the beloved author of The Happiness Project shows us how to take control of our stuff - and, by extension, our lives.
Gretchen Rubin knows firsthand that creating order can make our lives happier, healthier, more productive, and more creative. But for most of us, a rigid, one-size-fits-all solution doesn't work. When we tailor our approach to suit our own particular challenges and habits, we can find inner calm.
With a sense of fun, and a clear idea of what’s realistic for most people, Rubin suggests dozens of manageable tips and tricks for creating a more serene, orderly environment, including:
- Never label anything “miscellaneous.”
- Ask yourself, “Do I need more than one?”
- Don’t aim for minimalism.
- Remember: If you can’t retrieve it, you won’t use it.
- Stay current with a child’s interests.
- Beware the urge to “procrasticlear.”
By getting rid of things we don’t use, don’t need, or don’t love, we free our minds (and our shelves) for what we truly value.

Finally, a housekeeping and organizational system developed for those of us who'd describe our current living situation as a "f--king mess" that we "really need to get around to fixing one day". Unf--k Your Habitat is for anyone who has been left behind by traditional aspirational systems - the ones that ignore single people with full-time jobs, people without kids but living with roommates, and people with mental illnesses or physical limitations. Most organizational books are aimed at stay-at-home moms and people who seem to have unimaginable amounts of free time.

As high achievers, we’ve been conditioned to believe that the path to success is paved with relentless work. That if we want to overachieve, we have to overexert, overthink, and overdo. That if we aren’t perpetually exhausted, we’re not doing enough. But lately, working hard is more exhausting than ever. And the more depleted we get, the more effort it takes to make progress. Stuck in an endless loop of “Zoom, eat, sleep, repeat”, we’re often working twice as hard to achieve half as much.

Feeling inspired....
Opened the book and couldn't put it down. Luckily, it is a book that is to the point and readable in an evening. I often read organizational books to increase the calm in my life. There is nothing eye opening, but I do feel inspired to jump back into clearing clutter. All and all her advice is well researched and she understands that one size does not fit all. The ten step rule will make a dent in my routine and ultimately help guide me in the opposite direction of procrastination.

Well-articulated but not groundbreaking
I am a fan of Gretchen Rubin and the work that she does. This book had some important lessons in it, but I don’t think there was much that was wholly new or original. That being said, it’s worth a listen and has inspired me to organize my home.

Highly recommended, although quite brief. I love re-listening to her books - each time different ideas & actions are accessible & appealing to me. I appreciate that she encourages you to find your way, rather than follow a prescribed program. I find her presentation of her own books clear & engaging. Going back to her old books & looking forward to the next.

Excellent
Reading this book in the midst of my crazy life was like putting on an oxygen mask in the midst of a burning building. Just listening to the common sense Ms. Rubin presents gave me so much hope and clarity that I can take control of the clutter in my life. It was so good I’ve already recommended it to several people and have ordered the hard copy. Thank you Ms. Rubin!

I liked it a lot.
I liked it a lot and I am happy to find out that I can safe the time to read Mary Condos book. I like this practical approach very much and I think it will be a good help in a lot of people's lives. There are a view things at the end I disagree with because I feel they are more contributing to "new clutter" than just staying at this level of clean happiness. I guess in the end it is everybody's choice how much stuff one needs in one's life to make it joyfully. thank you again for yet another great book!

Love it!!
I really enjoyed this book. I felt like she was speaking to me and about me in many cases. The only gripe I have is, that while listening to this book on audible it kept cutting out and pausing. I’ve not experienced that with any of my other books. Besides that, I truly love this book and I would absolutely recommend it. Matter fact I’m going to listen to it again.
