Resumen del Editor

Criminals. Murderers. Thieves. That’s what makes the Outcast Marines special. And expendable.

A military science fiction adventure from number-one best-selling author James David Victor

The Outcast Marines are the worst of the worst. If you’re conscripted, you will likely spend the rest of your days going on desperate missions that no one else can, or will, do. That’s an option Solomon, Jezzie, Malady, and the other Outcasts gladly took, though, because the alternative was certain death on a remote prison moon. And it’s a good thing too, because sometimes it takes some truly bad guys to save the day.

Outcasts of Earth Omnibus is a bundle containing the first three audiobooks in the Outcast Marines series. If you like science fiction with “heroes” who are anything but, the Outcast Marines will suck you into their battle to save humanity, from itself and the rest of the galaxy.

Download Outcasts of Earth Omnibus and see how the “bad guys” save humanity in the 23rd century!

Flat and unoriginal

Were it not for the narrator’s gusto in embracing military cliches, I’m not sure I’d have stuck it out. This is your standard Dirty Dozen plot, only with a paltry three instead of twelve disreputable soldiers who aren’t ever actually disreputable. Sadly, this whole thing is forgettable.

You’d think a rogue thief, former yakuza, and a cyborg would be more interesting … but you’d be wrong. There’s a whole lotta telling and very little showing as we’re constantly told that Solomon was a thief, and killed his best friend, and was such a scoundrel … yet what little detail is provided doesn’t support the narrative. A yakuza member named Jezibel? Really? And the whole conflict between Solomon and the yakuza, which runs thru all three stories, is a contrived mess. Cyborg Malady apparently had his personality removed because he’s got less emotion than a full robot.

This collection takes three cardboard characters and runs them through cliche Starship Troopers boot camp, has them conveniently learning about nefarious plans from info dumps, and constantly has them swooping in to save the day among legions of redshirts, and on behalf of factions that were so uninspired they might as well be labeled Faction 1 and Faction 2. I regret my purchase.
