Our brain's default setting is negativity. Ask anyone who has ever tried to lose weight, achieve a new skill, or incorporate a new habit and they can tell you that our natural tendency is to levitate toward mediocrity. However, optimism overpowers that negativity or tendency to be mediocre. Kimberly Reed's book Optimists Always Win! isn't merely motivational mumbo jumbo. It is designed to help listeners develop a process to stay optimistic all the time. Reaching life's C-Suite means obtaining a level of happiness, peace, wisdom and growth in all areas of our lives. It's choosing optimism instead of anger, bitterness, or revenge.

The life events that unfold for Reed in Optimists Always Win! will do just that - challenge anyone facing what seems to be an impossible situation and show that victory is absolutely possible. Her heroic battle with her mother's terminal illness and sudden loss as well as her subsequent battle with cancer will encourage others that one doesn't have to face adversity with pessimism or hopelessness. Relying heavily on her faith in God and the optimism that she learned to cultivate, Kimberly Reed teaches listeners the 10 discouragement eliminators she used, which helped her succeed not just in her fight against cancer but as she lives each day as her best self.

I purchased Optimist Always Win because I live by this creed and can relate to the power of positivity. I experienced Kimberly S. Reed’s positive energy at a brunch a few years ago so I knew “Optimists Always Win”would provide steps and tips to encourage one’s self when life’s challenges hit. I was not disappointed. This book helped me so much. She validated my belief that my positive outlook on life when everything around me is crumbling is who I am. I highly recommend this book to anyone experiencing challenges, loss, or just feeling discouraged. Your spirit will be lifted!

In exchange for that wasted read, I’m going to write some run-on sentences here without mustering the consideration to edit or trim it, as this book Desperately needs, just to further drive the point home. This congealed mass that pretends to be a book provides A Lot of sanctimonious self-puffery, written with all the depth and mastery of a watered-down, GED-level regurgitation of reflexive fortune-cookie jargon—all spewing from the same-old sermons rooted in predictably monotonous racism and sexism. The author strives Vainly to dress it up and cake inches-thick make-up on it while dousing it in gallons of perfume; all in an attempt to pass it off as “virtue”—as if its veracity were a given. I imagine it is much easier to be an optimist when one lies to oneself as much as she does, or is foolish enough to have thoughtlessly slurped up all the racial and political propaganda as she has. It could have been halfway decent if she hadn’t tainted it with all that crap. However, this stands as yet another proof of what was produced in the now (thankfully) bygone-era of DEI and affirmative action; the warping of standards and the societal repression and distortion of the meritocratic nature of reality, and forcing in its place a hodgepodge tangle of political manipulation and the degrading ideology of the “participation trophy”, and calling it a “collective-good”. Such well-trained marxists, littered about corporate, academic and the arts/media sectors—have all “collectively” shown what sort of effects their “contributions” have—decay, dereliction, decrepitude and deviance…but rather than face the truth, these near-automatons circle up and optimistically applaud themselves at ever louder volumes and ever higher pitches; this way they never have to be troubled by the calls from everyone else working to alert them to the uncomfortable truth that the ship they were undeservedly trusted to pilot has been Sinking. Deluding mediocre fools into believing that they deserve what they want because they want it and feel entitled to it, rather than because they Actually Merit It doesn’t help or serve or improve anything or anyone other than the privileged and entitled con-artists, such as the author, who masquerade as whatever layer of virtuous victim class that’s most fashionable, or whatever brings the most funding, or whatever helps them cut in line. In the long-run, the bygone perspective from which the author’s worldview originated only ever produces a selfish and vapid glut of drivel that corrodes the literary world to the level of a regressed fifth-grade clique of self-congratulating, self-important harpies glued to their smart phones, drinking six-dollar coffees while pretending to be victims.

There is a huge difference between Optimism and simply being Naive.
