I love the narrator of this series. He puts you right in the middle of the adventure.

Excellent series!

Highly recommend this series about Private Investigative Service Agents Cyrus Barker and Thomas Llewellyn. The clients they work for, their involvements with Scotland Yard and the characters who work with them on solving problems make each book in this series evolve beautifully in making a family of sorts. The plots are interesting and the work dangerous. Each book ends with me reaching for another.

this was the first book out of the series I had a little trouble staying interested in.

Loved it as usual!

Look forward to many more installments! It sounds like there'll be more to come!

Wonderful!

I have loved and enjoyed all of the Llewelyn/Barker books and adore Antony Fergusons narration but I particularly enjoyed Old Scores. The insights in Oriental culture were fascinating. I highly recommend this entire series.

I’m enjoying this series very much.

I began the series a few years ago but left it at some point for Agatha Christie or maybe Sherlock Holmes narrated by Stephen Fry.

With new books added to the series I started from the beginning to catch up on the world of Barker and Llewelyn and it’s as good as I remembered. However I have a quibble.

I’m finding the narration of Thomas’s character a bit overly petulant at times and it can be somewhat grating on the human ear. A small quibble I admit. But something I felt I should mention.

Will Thomas really out does himself. Likely my favorite book in the series so far.

Series regulars will like the background info

I would not recommend this book as a first read. Go back, start from the beginning, enjoy each book, then read this edition. All the characters from previous stories come into their own. Looking forward to the next one.

An interesting event sequence

Japanese representatives have arrived in England to establish an Embassy. After a murder Barker is hired to find the murderer.
Twists and turns with more deaths ensuing. If you like this series this one is excellent.

Best Series

None of the books in this series disappointed. Stories were meticulously woven and thoroughly enjoyable.
