Earth lost the war in just a few weeks. Our cities burned, and billions died. After we surrendered, the Kyra helped us to rebuild, but on their terms, confining us to city centers and building high walls to keep us in.

The Kyra indoctrinate our children and encourage them to ascend through a virus that turns them into Chimeras. These hybrids are sent to fight the Kyra's enemy, but only half of all ascensions are successful. The failures become Dregs, left to wander the Wastes as mindless predators.

Determined to oppose the Kyra any way he can, Clayton is working with the human resistance, and now they have a plan that will either put an end to the occupation, or to us....

I thought it was pretty good.

Maybe I’m easier to please than some of these negative reviewers but I thought it was pretty good and was entertained.

Good book. I love that it included a loyal dog.

I really liked this book a lot. I was a little bummed it took place on Earth, I was hoping for a storyline in space but the story is good and the characters likeable.

Great book 2

I loved the story but I am a little bored of the Zombie narrative and an infectious virus that seems over-kill in SyFy. other than that great character development and the depth of their relationships.

Excellent Sci-fi Story!

An excellent sci-fi story with a well paced storyline and great characters. Contains a well written story with an interesting plot, lots of action, several twists, and cliffhangers. An enjoyable read and audible that I would highly recommend.

what an awesome second it's almost like a new series the way it picks up 100 years after the first book but due to time dilation it's only been a year for the male protagonist great great writing incredibly awesome story on my way to book three

Great series..

Love this series! It's such an exciting read. The battle between the few resistance men and women and the Kyra and Chimeras. I can wait to get to the next book. Love, love, love Clayton, Keera, Lori, Nova, Samara and Dora BUT I just hate that coward Richard Morgan. It seems to be taking forever to kill him off.

No romance and the F-bomb was used 8 times.

As for the narration: Ben Jaeger-Thomas does a wonderful job on the narration!

New story line - good scifi and character dev

Completely new story line from previous books.
Drew me in and kept me guessing.
All Jasper T, Scott books are new and interesting.

Great follow up to a good book. More character development. Expands significantly on the world established in the first book.

I enjoyed the story

I am byest science fiction is my favorite stories, so the review i give is going to reflect that. It is interesting how they could have aliens, zombies, and androids all in one story, probably be better if the focus was more about one sub set instead of a whole chapters about the dog, thats why it got a 4
