Resumen del Editor

The nice thing about African mythology is that it is rooted in such ancient traditions. And although the west hasn’t fully embraced some of these interesting stories, they have been told by many and remembered by some, enough to write them down and discover what they are all about. Different regions have different traditions, of course, and you’ll learn more about many of them in this book. The mythological creatures, animals, gods, and goddesses all have distinct qualities and traits, so strap up and go for a ride in the African world of fantasy as you learn what people believed in and imagined. Find out more about the culture, the fertility rituals, birth, death, creation, and lots of other details.

Learned a lot

I learned a lot from these African myths. It was inspiring, enlightening, and motivating. One more book that has sparked some contemplative moments in my life.

Nice

I loved this book. It tells so many tales of the whales (just kidding, it rhymed, sorry). Tales from Africa, the forgotten continent that is having such a better economy in so many countries! The mythology from the tribes, the folklore, the creation stories... it is all coming together nicely in this book. Get it!

The African mythology in a nutshell?

I'm sure there is more to African mythology than we know. The continent is so vast and the number of stories that have been passed down through generations from tribe to tribe are probably numerous and cannot be numbered (is that the same thing?)

Either way, no matter what you say, the author did a great job naming a bunch of them (surprisingly many in just about 3 hours) and explaining them well. The narrator sounds professional and therefore, this is a book I highly recommend to mythology enthusiasts.

Nice! Great! Perfect!

Well, maybe not perfect. Perfect would be absolutely flawless, and I don't believe it is. However, great enough to give it 5 stars? Yes, yes it is. And to call it fantastic, amazing, and wonderful, would be nice, but it wouldn't do it justice. These would all be understatements. Thank you for all those historical views from the people themselves about the African myths!

Ancient wisdom

There is some ancient wisdom in some of these fables and stories. You can learn a lot from them.

Where's the authenticity?

I did not like this book. I appreciate the information however the read felt inauthentic. Especially because the reader was a European or Caucasian sounding person. Not 1 African, black white or other could be found to read the script?

Falls apart in the last third

This is an acceptable introduction to mythology of the African continent, but it unfortunately degenerates into gibberish in the last third. It’s apparent through the reading that the text suffers from grammatical issues, but it becomes unintelligible during the last third, as though it was put through a language translator several times before reading. As an example, the word “human” is replaced variably with “man” “guy” “individual” “one” in unnatural ways that are unpleasant at best and uninterpretable at worst.
