Resumen del Editor

Former CIA agent Bailey Jones has spent months trying to forget her night of passion with mercenary Sean Reilly. An elite and methodical assassin, she has no room in her life for a reckless, rule-breaking Irishman, and she's vowed to steer clear of the tempting bad boy who lured her into his bed under false pretenses. When Sean is implicated in the robbery of a Dublin bank, Bailey knows that something isn't right. So what if she can't trust him? There's no way that Sean would end up on the wrong side of the law. In fact he's stuck in the middle of a dark and dirty conspiracy that could put his twin brother's life at risk with one wrong move.

Bailey discovers that her life might also be in jeopardy when she agrees to help. As the stakes are raised and Bailey finds herself torn between two brothers, the fine line between danger and desire is crossed...and it'll take more than a killer instinct to survive.

Between a Rock and a hard place, kind of tale!

Sean’s twin brother gets kid napped, from their former IRA associates. Sean leaves Morgan’s employ and goes back to Ireland to get his brother released. He left his former team, to keep them out of this IRA mess but, his teammates are loyal, to the core, and they’ll have Sean’s back, no matter what. What starts off as a simple heist, ends up getting more complicated, everyday. The action and intrigue gets pretty intense, before this mess is handled. Another awesome book in this exciting series.

OK!!!

So, I loved this book and this series, in general, was very good, very entertaining. BUT, OMG Liam was so whinny, not just conflicted but his issues was way too much, I was annoyed.

Enjoying the series so far

At this point I only have one book left in the series but as an Elle Kennedy fan I can definitely appreciate the m/m love story inserted between Sully and Liam. I love action packed romance.

Caveman Sean

I enjoyed the first several books in this series about 2 special ops groups who rescued and protected innocent people around the world. These strong sexy men genuinely admired and respected woman, while the females were strong, competent and knew how to kick ass.

Unfortunately, Sean was more caveman than romantic hero. While not physically violent or intentionally cruel, Sean was too arrogant, overbearing, and obnoxious for my taste. He supposedly "loved" Bailey but treated her more like a stupid child than an intelligent adult,

Likewise Bailey, a trained assassin and former CIA operative, was too timid to be believable or engaging. The plot was well written, the secondary characters were interesting but the so called romantic couple was too sad to be entertaining.

The cactus and the caveman

The best part of this story was the narrator and her Irish accents. Too bad it was wasted on an outdated IRA plot and two people with toxic traits. There were a lot of characters that merely existed to be plot devices and who disappeared once their purpose was served (the ex, the mom in peril who never even got a single scene or line of dialogue, the twin brother). Even the MM side-romance between Liam and Sully, that’s been brewing the last few books, stalled in endless angst.

On the thriller side, I couldn’t roll with the contrivances that had Sean, Bailey and their operative friends going along with terrorist actions that got innocents killed … while not a single one of them informed the authorities or utilized their considerable operative connections. Bailey and Sean were behind the ball until the last half hour.

On the romance side, Bailey is a former CIA operative who repeatedly freezes and serves as the damsel. She’s also yet another beyond prickly, emotionally unavailable FMC who can’t abide controlling men… and then ends up with a controlling man. Sean lacked integrity, sleeping with Bailey while she thought he was Sean’s twin brother… but hey, it’s okay because reasons. What annoyed me the most was when Sean pulled a Wil Smith, taking offense over Bailey being abused, preventing her from taking action (as she was perfectly prepared to do), and then torturing a guy… but hey, it’s okay because he lost his temper over her being insulted.

The ending felt rushed and unrealistic. I wasn’t at all convinced that the cactus and the caveman would move past their toxic traits and live happily ever after. The book seemed lazily written. Even the cover art shows a lack of care, seeing as Sean is blond and Irish, whereas the man on the cover looks like a black haired Italian. Overall underwhelming.
