Resumen del Editor

Haunted by the ghosts of longdead foes and with his psychic powers blinded, Mephiston, chief librarian of the Blood Angels, travels to the warwracked world of Morsus, where death awaits....

Listen to it because

The Lord of Death returns in a novel that shows him pushed to his very limits and facing the doom that has chased him for centuries.

The story

As the Great Rift tears the galaxy apart, portents and darkness beset Mephiston. At the time when he needs his psychic sight the most, the chief librarian's powers are rendered blind by some inexplicable force. Haunted by the ghosts of the damned, their purpose unclear, Mephiston takes his ship the Blood Oath and the Blood Angels in his charge to the world of Morsus, where he believes the source of his psychic blindness is to be found. But Morsus is embroiled in conflict too, a longstanding struggle between the Imperium and some of its most ancient foes called the Revenant Crusade.

Written by Darius Hinks. Read by Richard Reed.

slow but steady

The book took a little bit longer to get going but eventually it picked up.

ALOT BETTER

I gave it a chance after the other Mephiston book was out right booring and a power fantasy that was not fun to listen to at all. Now this is the black libary author quality. I am looking forward to reading his book in the future.

I like the story it is alot more believable, the proformance is great the voice actor really give his best. The relationship between Mephiston and Rayzulus is also something like that they explore and could do more!

Not bad, a bit frustrating

I really enjoyed the story, but found myself a bit annoyed when characters acted in a highly predictable manner. A lot of the internal conflict seemed two-dimensional. That said, I enjoyed the action and the book over all.

Another great Warhammer 40k book

Great book with a great narrator, but the only accent he does besides is own is Russian. So its a tad funny how several characters from different places all sound Russian, but other than that its a great listen.

It’s a great continuation.

Fun story, but really takes off after the 1/2 way mark. It’s a great middle book for a trilogy.

needed better editing

This is the second Maphiston novel by Darius Hinks. I enjoyed the first and the second, but there were issues.

This book needs better editing. Some parts drag on and on, painfully. The narrator generally does a good job, but there are occasions of wrong voice being attached to a character and the wrong term being employed in the story.

Because I don't have the print copy, I don't know if this is the fault of the editor or suthor.

The conclusion is fulfilling and worthwhile, big plus.

Improved, Yet Lacking: Mephiston Book 2

"Mephiston: The Revenant Crusade" by Darius Hinks is an improvement over its predecessor, yet it still fell short of my expectations, warranting a 3-star rating.

Hinks has unquestionably stepped up his game, offering a narrative with more depth and intrigue. Particularly, the dynamics between Mephiston and Rayzulus piqued my interest. However, the book's flawed editing hampers this progress, with sections feeling excessively drawn out and disruptive to the overall pace of the story.

The voice narration, while generally effective, stumbled on occasions with mismatched character voices and occasional misused terminology. Whether this is an issue rooted in the writing or the narration itself, it still detracted from the immersive experience I expected.

Additionally, some characters' actions were predictably stereotypical, resulting in a degree of frustration. This limited the potential depth of the narrative, making internal conflicts seem more two-dimensional than they could have been.

Despite these criticisms, the action sequences were genuinely enjoyable, displaying the rich, conflict-filled universe Warhammer 40,000 is known for. Furthermore, the book's conclusion was notably satisfying and sparked curiosity for potential sequels.

Overall, "Mephiston: The Revenant Crusade" shows Hinks' growth as a writer in this series, though there are still issues to be addressed. Despite its shortcomings, the book was an engaging read and I'm cautiously optimistic for future installments.

Poor Conclusion to Good Series

The narration was good but the story was trash. It felt rushed and boring.
