Paris, 1917. The notorious dancer Mata Hari sits in a cold cell awaiting freedom...or death. Alone and despondent, she is as confused as the rest of the world about the charges she's been arrested on: treason leading to the deaths of thousands of French soldiers. As she waits for her fate to be decided, she relays the story of her life to a reporter who is allowed to visit her in prison.
From Indian temples and Parisian theatres to German barracks in war-torn Europe, international best-selling author Michelle Moran, who expertly balances fact and fiction (Associated Press), brings to vibrant life the famed world of Mata Hari: dancer, courtesan, and possibly spy.

Miss Zara Ramm is a total miss -pun intended- on this work, she rushes so much that it seems as though she'd get paid more the faster she read. There is no emotion, no expression, one never knows when the characters have changed because they all sound exactly the same, and frankly, she might as well have been reading the instructions to assemble a flat-box item she is in a rush to get set. It is a pity because this is probably a great novel that has been ruined by a terrible narrator. Please, would you find a great voice actress and re-make it? I know for a fact that she is going on my black list of narrators so I never have to waste a credit because of her, again.
I must say that I only gave the story 2 stars because I didn't finish listening to it; it is unfair, I know, but I had to rate it and I can't give it five stars if I only listened to a little less than two hours.
Good? Bad? I May Never Know...
