In this fourth and final installment of the Detective Ace Sloan series, Sloan must solve the murders of multiple members of a prominent Martian family and a distinguished poet all while cultivating a relationship with a new lover and dealing with a sudden serious health issue.
More than ever, he must lean on Detective Kate Hammer to assist him in solving the crimes. Like the other Sloan mysteries (The Red Planet Murders, The Red Planet President, and Mars at Midnight), this book brims with intrigue and suspense set against the Martian landscape in the 22nd century.

Good

I’ve really enjoyed all four books in the series, and this was no different. Yes, I felt like it was missing something, but overall this was good for the short story that it is. Graham knows how to write very tight and precise short stories that are full of detail and actually have a story arc.
William Graham does it again!

If you liked the other books in this series then you'll like this one too.
Once again the narration is an excellent match for the book, the character voices are consistent from book to book and the delivery enhances an already excellent book.
This book was supplied free by the author/narrator/publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Great novella, easy listening and great for lunch break listening.

Great Novella

The final novella of this series was actually quite good considering the length. The author ditches the heavy politics and gives us a couple of short murder mysteries in the vein of an episode of Law and Order. This is more like two short stories than a single story. The first one is about a family being picked off and the second one is about a poet with a lot of lovers being killed. Although it’s really hard to have much character development in such a short story the ending was still a bit sad but good.
Overall a good set of short stories buta s I stated in a previous review I think this series would benefit from being in a compilation of all the novellas in one book.
Once again the narrator was switched, which I usually don’t like but I think Adam Schulmerich was the best of the three that read these books.
Best Novella in the Series

This is the first book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Adam Schulmerich ) and I would listen to another. He has good cadence and diction. His female voices are well done.
There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive violence or swearing.

Part of a great extensive series

His retirement, and passing of the baton to his protege is not an easy story, but it is a well told and somewhat bittersweet end to the series. The main complaint I really have is that it is too quick.
I look forward to (maybe) there being a Kate Hammer: Detective of Mars series.
Adam Schulmerich is the third narrator to be used on the series (across 4 books), and at least to me he is the best to date. He is clear and well paced. His character differences are subtle, but they are there. There is no difficultly in telling who is speaking or what is going on. He conveys the emotions and the actions of the character off the page well.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
This book was alright but short. And there wasn't anything mind blowing. Thus this won't be in my "I recommend" list. I like that the story has a finality to it in this book, conveying that this is the final book in the series. But at the same time, the epilogue seemed rushed and somewhat out of character.Would you recommend Mars at Twilight to your friends? Why or why not?

Among the four books in the series, narration was best in this one. That's not saying much though, because narration in the other three were pretty bad. In this fourth one, each character is distinguishable and their voices had a touch of emotion, which is better than the previous ones. Still, there's room for a lot of improvement there.Do you think Mars at Twilight needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No follow-up book needed. The epilogue tied all loose ends and gave the series a proper send off.Any additional comments?

I don't recommend movies or books who use offensive and vulgar languageWhat does Adam Schulmerich bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Adam's narration is top notch - great job!Any additional comments?
I haven’t given the thought about establishing colonies and living in Mars before, but this book made it appear as if its already happening! Great imagination! No dull moments - but I cringed here and there because of some vulgar language, which I don’t appreciate.I received this audio-book free for an honest review by the author, narrator, or publisher. Thank you!!!
