In Malachi, God levels eight accusations against his people, saying in effect: “I’ve got a number of bones to pick with you!” In the common Christian canon of Scripture, Malachi is the final book of the Hebrew Scriptures, ending with the promise of redemption through the imminent coming of his Son, the Messiah.

Ezra and Nehemiah work together, priest and layman, to complete God’s work—and you will not find two more different characters in all of Scripture. When Ezra learns that the Israelite leaders have been unfaithful to God, he sits on the ground appalled and pulls out the hairs of his beard; when Nehemiah hears the same message, he gathers the leaders together, sits them on the ground, and he pulls out the hairs of their beards!

In 1 Samuel we continue our narrative. Samuel is the last of the judges, and with his end approaching the people demand a king “so we can be like all the other nations.” As God tells Samuel, “it is not you they have rejected, they have rejected me as their king.” And indeed they have. The people choose a king, Saul of the tribe of Benjamin. Saul will rule Israel for an entire generation, but although he looks like a king, he does not have the heart of a king, and the weight of kingship crushes him.

Welcome to the end of the Old Testament
Yahoo! You made it to the end of the Old Testament. Good job!
We are reminded that God Doesn't change, we change in relation to God...like the prodigal son. Be good to the widow, fatherless, foreigner, and poor. The day of the Lord is coming. "He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parent..."
Now on to the New Testament!

A very good listen that never stood still for too long and yet is filled with relevant and little known information that I could follow. I can't wait to listen to it again.
