This story held my attention from start to finish. I wanted to know how it would develop and if the characters would grow through it- and they did! Really enjoyable read. It’s nice to have a story that doesn’t depend on steamy scenes to carry it. Well done!

Adorable

It’s a Jewish rom com. Easy read. The audio version proved to be a good performance.

OMG This was Uber cute!

Poor Abby, her parents were really a piece of work. And Seth came right when she needed him . . . despite the fact that disliked him so much in the beginning. They really were perfect for each other . . . And GOOD parents always know what's best for you. ALWAYS!!!

I would totally go to a Hanukkah Festival!

I was raised Catholic and have ultimately become areligious but I love learning about the history behind different faiths. It was so neat to hear even the brief descriptions of things that are entirely a different culture than my own.

This was so well written. The characters were realistically written and made me long for New York.

Kelli Tager also did an amazing job embodying the characters. I cried a few times as I listened, being able to relate to both the words and emotions of feeling left out of family things and then finding her own family.

The romance is very sweet and slow simmer, but well worth the journey to get there!

Surprisingly very good

This was so much more than I expected from a Hanukkah romance. It was cute and fun but also unexpectedly deep.

Hits all the right romance buttons!

Basically I loved everything about this story and the narrator performance. It’s a romance, so of course there’s some contrivance. But the author’s writing is strong. So it doesn’t FEEL contrived. I’m Black American and I hv some familiarity with Jewish culture, but this book welcomes you into the community and the Jewish experience of Hanukkah. You don’t hv to be Jewish fall in love with this book.

Kelli Tager enlivens the story with just the right amount of snark from the female lead and the perfect amount of sweetness for the boyfriend, Seth. The character voices are clear and fun.

I finished the book wanting more from the author and this narrator.

Very sweet story that I enjoyed far more than I expected. Lovely story of a woman finding both her own strength and her cultural identity, while finding love and family.

This was such a great take on your “standard” holiday romance! So much fun to learn about a new holiday and their traditions’

Main character has depression

I liked parts of this novel. I really wanted to love it. The concept is fun. I enjoy Jewish rom com lit. But it’s hard to get past the depression and low self esteem. The backstory makes it understandable. I listened to it twice but honestly it was a struggle the second time.
