Historia
For most of the last hundred years, Biloxi was known for its beaches, resorts, and seafood industry. But it had a darker side. It was also notorious for corruption and vice, everything from gambling, prostitution, bootleg liquor, and drugs to contract killings. The vice was controlled by small cabal of mobsters, many of them rumored to be members of the Dixie Mafia. Keith Rudy and Hugh Malco grew up in Biloxi in the sixties and were childhood friends, as well as Little League all-stars.

Historia
In 1942, Evie Farrow is used to life on Ocracoke Island, where every day is the same—until the German U-boats haunting their waters begin to wreak havoc. And when special agent Sterling Bertrand is washed ashore at Evie's inn, her life is turned upside down. While Sterling's injuries keep him inn-bound for weeks, making him even more anxious about the man he's tracking, he becomes increasingly intrigued by Evie, who seems to be hiding secrets of her own.

In AD 664 King Oswy of Northumbria has convened a synod at Whitby to hear debate between the Roman and Celtic Christian Churches and decide which shall be granted primacy in his kingdom. At stake is much more than a few disputed points of ritual; Oswy's decision could affect the survival of either Church in the Saxon kingdoms. When the Abbess Etain, a leading speaker for the Celtic Church, is found murdered, suspicion falls upon the Roman faction.

Hortensia James and Marion Agostino are neighbours. One is black, one white. Both are successful women with impressive careers. Both have recently been widowed. And both are sworn enemies, sharing hedge and hostility and pruning both with a vim and zeal that belie the fact that they are over 80. But one day an unforeseen event forces the women together. And gradually the bickering and sniping soften into lively debate, and from there into memories shared.

Historia
In turn-of-the-20th century Texas, the Berachah Home for the Redemption and Protection of Erring Girls is an unprecedented beacon of hope for young women consigned to the dangerous poverty of the streets by birth, circumstance, or personal tragedy. Built in 1903 on the dusty outskirts of Arlington, a remote dot between Dallas and Fort Worth’s red-light districts, the progressive home bucks public opinion by offering faith, training, and rehabilitation to prostitutes, addicts, unwed mothers, and “ruined” girls without forcibly separating mothers from children.

Resumen del Editor
We are all a bit broken, and Katherine is no different. She spent her life searching to understand why her father had walked out the door and had never returned. After his disappearance, she spent the rest of her childhood in two different parts of a racially divided town, and soon discovered she belonged in both. Katherine lived her entire life in Kingston, a small Southern town with a dark past of its own but full of lovable and intriguing characters. A charismatic doctor and a large-and-in-charge seamstress step up to the plate when Katherine's family dissolves - add the wealthy owner of a timber empire, a woman struggling to fight an addiction, a truck driver, and two lost travelers who aren't really sure what they are seeking.
It's the promises we make to each other that bind us and sometimes those same promises can rip us apart. The two people Katherine loved the longest in life had known all along what caused her father's disappearance. She discovered the potency of both a promise kept, and a promise shattered when their vow of secrecy was broken. After her death, four people are summoned by her attorney to discover what she bequeathed to each of them. But are any of them at all prepared how Katherine's gifts will change their lives forever?

Historia
Dr. Emilie Getz and Jonas Fielding are as different as two people - of the same age, with the same faith, living in the same small Pennsylvania town - could possibly be. She's a first-class neatnik; he's a world-class slob. She's into saving historical relics; he's into saving souls. But perhaps opposites do attract. For when this historian and this land developer meet, sparks fly. And despite the rather inauspicious beginning to their relationship, neither one will escape unchanged - or unsmitten!

Amazing, heartwarming story!
My brother had a copy of this book, and almost as soon as I picked it up, I was hooked. I bought both the hard copy and audible version. This is an incredible story! I ended up feeling like I personally know all the characters. I love to read novels when I have time, and this one is a new favorite! Mrs. Howse-Duncan is a gifted story teller and writer. It is beautifully and very well done. Thanks for sharing this wonderful story with us!

Delightful
I like the way the characters all intertwine and become a family. Tragedy struck in their lives, but trust in God brought them through
