Urban Fantasy Series Starter

Well this was wonderfully fun and I would love more now please!

Kiss of the Damned was the perfect mix of world building, character development and mystery- it also doesn't hurt that I am rooting for a romantic connection between a certain naive girl and an all powerful broody demon guy... I have read and listened to books previously by this author and been very happy with what I received and this is no exception. I blew through this in a single day because the plot progressed with great pacing and everything was just so easy for me to get lost in. The biggest problem with me reading this in a single day is that the second book in the series is not out yet and I have no idea how to cope while wondering how everything will play out next. Keep in mind, there is for sure a cliff hanger to keep you on your toes for the next book.

The narrator was a perfect choice to bring Paige to life. She nailed the perfect mix of sweet and naive with curious and resilient in her inflections, making me feel like I know Paige personally. Her other character voices were well done and distinct so I always knew who was talking, which is a requirement in my audios. I highly recommend the audiobook as an option if you are an audiobook fan- keep in mind that I listened at 2x speed which was perfect for me.

I am a super fan and I recommend this for anyone who enjoys urban fantasy, other worlds, angel and demon conflicts and a slow burn potential romance.

Saw a TiKTok by the author and wanted to check this one out. Holy cow this one has great world building, romance and a unique plot. I loved it.

Kiss of the Damned

I really enjoyed Kiss of the Damned by Elena Lawson. It was a different spin on angels and demons to me. The main protagonist feels like a real person, and makes you genuinely interested in what is going on with her. In fact I was talking to her on what not to do in my head throughout the book. I the only downside to the audiobook is the narrator has a soft, slow way of speaking. Even the adrenaline inducing scenes is spoken soft and slow. It needed some stronger emotions in those scenes to convey the urgency going on. Other than that, it was great, and I’m ready to read or listen to the next book in the series.

Perfect Urban Fantasy!

Kiss of the Damned was a great listen! The story was fantastic and had some unusual background for our main character that I found very refreshing. I loved all the small hints on the story about what may be coming next, and I loved Paige!

She’s resilient and smart and a perfect match for Kincaid. Their sparks were the best kind of slow build. The world building was incredible. It was unique and captivating for a genre that can be really overloaded with the same old same.

I Really enjoyed my time in this book, and I’m definitely going to be listening to it again before the next one comes out in November and snatching that up as soon as possible.

Intriguing

This was a really good listen, the narration was excellent. I was surprised by how dark the story starts off, which made it much more compelling, I think (though those with sensitivities may find it triggering). Paige has a lot of things to work through and discover about herself and it gives the book a lot room to develop in interesting ways. The world building is also really engaging. This alternate reality is an interesting and thrilling place to visit.

New Spin

This book has a new spin and angels and demons. This book was not what I thought it was going to be. To tell the truth I like that it makes you think about what could happen next. I can't wait to find out what happens next.

Got it on audio for a "re-read"the narrator wasn't bad just odd... not sure what the sultry type pauses are for? Not bad just different it just comes across as frustrating at times like ?? why??

Great story!!! As is all her book. Definitely getting the rest of the series. Loved it!!

Diggin it

I’m really liking the start to this series! It’s your typical plot of said girl doesn’t know what she really is because she was raised as a different species, but with a few plot twists. She’s not a “kneel down and take what life gives her” kind of girl and I like that. I’m excited to see more snark and sass as she comes into who she really is!
