Acerca de esta escucha

Jefferson Tayte is good at finding people who don't want to be found. For years he has followed faint genealogical trails to reunite families - and uncover long-hidden secrets. But Tayte is a loner, a man with no ties of his own; his true identity is the most elusive case of his career.

But that could all be about to change. Now Tayte has in his possession the beginnings of a new trail - clues his late mentor had started to gather - that might at last lead to his own family. With Professor Jean Summer, his partner in genealogical sleuthing, he travels to Munich to pick up the scent. But the hunt takes them deep into dangerous territory: the sinister secrets of World War II Germany, and those who must keep them buried at any cost.

When their investigations threaten to undermine a fascist organisation, Tayte and Summer know time is running out. Can they find their way to the dark heart of a deadly history before they become its latest victims?

The story line was very, very interesting and easy to follow. Lots of turns and twists that were surprising and really added so much to the book. The narrator was very good. Sometimes when people try to do a foreign accent it is hard to understand, but Simon Vance did a good job.

Always GOOD stories

Perhaps those in search of melodrama will enjoy those sections of the book. I was looking for something a bit less dramatic. The story line was interesting but not sure the overly dramatic sections were necessary.

Too Much Drama

I stayed up all night to get to end but worth it, devastating yes, but very satisfying

I put off reading this book in the series because I'm sick of Nazi stories, but I wanted to find out about Tayt's origin/family tree that has been a theme throughout the series. I set it at 1.5 speed to get thru it and fast forwarded the sicko parts. This is a storyline done too many times, don't waste a credit, just stay curious.

Sick of Nazi stories

Jefferson Tayte seems like a friend after reading the books in this series. This one is more personal for Tayte. Another mystery from a great storyteller. Mr. Robinson will not disappoint anyone with this one. Simon Vance again brings the characters to life with his excellent narrative skills. Another high recommendation!

More mystery and family history...

Loved every minute of it. The twists and turns keep me on the edge of my seat.

Loved the adventure from beginning to end.

I feel the same way about Book 5 as I did for Books 3 and 4. In this instalment, I particularly enjoyed the setting in Munich because it evoked some nice vacations memories.

Overall:
•I liked the story, but there were times when I was quite mixed-up because I am bad at remembering names and on numerous occasions, I was confused about who was who.

•A little heavy on action scenes which it my opinion are better when seen - not read or heard.

•I hate it when the bad-guys blab out their evil schemes.

•Does the author have a contract with Mr Goodbar? The product placement felt extremely contrived.

Same opinion as before

Where does Kindred rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It is at the top of my listening series.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Kindred?

When Tayte realized he had a living relative.

Which character – as performed by Simon Vance – was your favorite?

It has to be Tayte. He is bumbling, overweight, a definite obsessive workaholic, but he is really smart and he is a problem solver. Also, this character is learning and changing as he develops his new found relationship with Jean. I like a character who can grow and change. I was a bit put off by Vance's American accent at first, but, it has grown on me and I hear Tayte's voice in the reading now.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Pretty much.

Any additional comments?

I get tired of overmuch violence, graphic descriptions of blood, guts, and sex. It is refreshing to have a story that moves along at a fast pace, employs an actual puzzle to be solved, and has just the right amount of violence (can't have a mystery without some dead bodies!) but, it's not overdone and it's not bloody. i also read for entertainment and so I like the "hero" to face an insurmountable challenge, get hurt, but come out OK in the end. Real life is too depressing to have to find it in the novels I read for fun. So, well done with this one and am looking forward to more.

Loved this next Tayte mystery!

Some long awaited information on Tate's background. Exciting chase. Excellent narration as usual by Vance.
