It was going on two years now since his disappearance, but of course, anything was possible. After all, while the clues had gone cold and witness memories faded, there was one thing that doesn’t die away, the scent of death. And that is where the dogs come in.

a good story

the story is very touching but without voice actors I feel the highs and lows of human emotion goes missing.

Ai .. not impressed. Wrong inflection, etc…

Putting down the dog… could have done without that. Word word word word word word

This was so enjoyable to listen to.

I personally loved these books. They were so pleasant to listen to while I did work around the house such as cleaning.

Rebekkah's perseverance through pain, quiet joy in nature

I really got into the story. I felt indignant when others were making trouble for ER-SAR as a group by complaining about its members not being well enough trained. I was so sad when the dogs were hurt or sick. I enjoyed the descriptions of nature during the walks. I was happy that there seemed to be a succession of happy guests.

It was easy to feel a part of this world while listening to the book. If you don't read the first book and this one, you will be missing out on some educational search and rescue (SAR) information and some wonderful virtual vacation time (no TV or video required).

Engaging character

I enjoyed the story, character development, and the relationship between the dog handler and her dogs. It was a good listen.

Rebecca’s work ethic was impressive, as well as her love of her friends & family, two footed & four!

I liked all the information about how the SAR dogs are trained; that was very interesting. As well, I found it fascinating how the personalities of the different dogs helped each in their respective special skills. I also liked that Rebecca & Ben were chaste.
What I didn’t enjoy was the AI narrator’s occasional incorrect pronunciations, (most notably when mispronouncing a word as an adjective, rather than as a verb, a mistake a human would not make), and, the frequently stilted cadence caused by the lack of a coherent flow, not only from sentence to sentence, but, often WITHIN a sentence. Also, at times, the monotonous quality of the AI’s speech was quite jarring.
Having said all that, I am forced to admit that I have heard SEVERAL human narrators with voices that were much worse, and a few who were even so annoying that I was actually unable to continue to listen to them, and was forced to return those titles to purchase them in printed form.

I loved the dogs and the searches

I loved the story lines for each search. Little to no redundancy in this book. Also no vulgarity, foul language or boring sex scenes.

Great K9 story

just a pity about the virtual voice. loved the intimate descriptive journey of the training and work of a K9 operator.

Did not like virtual voice wrong emphasis on some sentences.
Kinda creepy really weird sound.
