Pay attention

Regardless of which political party, you support or your political ideology, I encourage you to listen to the respectful, sincere, and uplifting tone of both speakers. We don’t need to make up derogatory nicknames, or villainize those who disagreed with us. This is a moment in history Where we heard our leaders at their best.

Hope and Graciousness

I believe that these may be two of the greatest speeches of our times.

I have never liked John McCain so well as I do in this speech. It is remarkable for it's profound graciousness, and is the most eloquent speech I have ever heard from him (or any losing candidate). Among other things, it was stirring to hear him firmly shush the crowd from it's unkind booing; by example he called for a more noble response from all of us.

Obama's speech is inspiring (as usual) but it may have more historical value than we can now appreciate. It marks a milestone of course because he is Black, but even more importantly because he is UNIVERSAL. He represents the collective voice of America calling not just for a change in administration but for a change in values away from the old style, self-serving, partisan politics (where government is a tool for the special interests and the powerful) to a government that actually seeks intelligence over power. If he can pull it off, this will be a speech to remember!

THUMBS UP!!!

It's such a pleasure to be able to listen again, even though I remember exactly the moment I heard it live. It's even better the 2nd time around.
