If you've ever wondered why some people are mesmerizing to watch and listen to, and others are hard to pay attention to even when you want to, it comes down to one word: technique.
People who know how to choose interesting things to say are on to one of my best tips for speakers. Instead of trying to tell their audience everything they know about their subject, which is impossible, they craft their message for maximum engagement, entertainment, and education.
They learn how to write for the spoken word, different from the written word. The clarity and connection to their overall intention allows them to illuminate and stimulate audiences. They know how to rehearse and prepare for their delivery, and how to handle themselves for Q&A. They are having fun!
With no technique to work with and nothing to go by, smart and informed people can end up looking dull and out of it. You need to have knowledge of your subject as well as knowledge of public speaking skills. You can't have one without the other. If you can't convey your expertise and opinion to others, it's a lose/lose game, and you're not doing anyone any favors.
This audiobook walks you through the process of developing your own technique. Each of us has something to offer and share with others, and now more than ever, it's imperative that we speak up for our beliefs!
